Job description


This position is for our Chicago, IL facility.Operations Managers are the front-line operating authority and are responsible for the day-to-day operations/activities of the facility. They provide supervision and direction to all operations employees. They ensure that all operations schedules required by the customer are met 100% of the time. They also oversee quality and efficiency of transportation associates; equipment utilization and revenue goals and adherence to MCC's policies, procedures, and DOT regulations.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provides clear concise written and verbal communication to all personnel.
  • Follow and enforce company policies and procedures.
  • Perform driver safety rides (process walk).
  • Responsible for administrative activities, development/monitoring of KPI and implementing continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Provide supervision and direction to all operations employees.
  • Complete daily reporting of operational/quality requirements.
  • Provide instructions to drivers on routing and proper handling of materials.
  • Responsible for dispatching company drivers for pick-up and delivery of shipments through the railyards & depots in Chicago, IL.
  • Dispatch drivers on a variable schedule as needed.
  • Counsels and uses progressive corrective action processes when disciplining employees.
  • Meet customer requirements; ensure productivity levels are reached in an effective and efficient manner and maintaining quality performance objectives.
  • Ensures employees are following proper work instructions in their assigned areas.
  • Remains current with changes and operating procedures within assigned areas.
  • Provide on-site management and company representation to the customer.


KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

  • Must have very good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with customers and employees.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in demanding environments with tight deadlines.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years working knowledge of 20/40/53' containers withn in the Chicago market
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees.
  • Working knowledge of Trinium operating system
  • Exceptional problem solving, conflict resolution, decision making, planning, and organizational skills are all required.
  • Working knowledge of Chicago Drayage railyard & depots
  • Balance team and individual responsibilities.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.

This position is Full time, Monday - Friday.Must be able to work overtime and occasional Saturdays.

Job Requirements

  • Knowledge of Trinium preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred
  • Strong organization and planning skills
  • Pass a post offer drug exam
  • Knowledge of Chicago Port(s) & RY is a must.
  • At least five years dispatch experience.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent follow-up
