Job Description
Position Summary


At Stony Brook Medicine, Facility Operations Assistant are valuable members of our team in the Receiving & Courier Services Department. This member provides routine direction and manifests to / from all Hospital affiliated clinics & locations throughout Eastern & Western Long Island, as well as the Metro NYC.


Qualified candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, time management skills, excellent knowledge of demographics, and interpersonal skills. Candidate must be organized and be able to pay attention to detail, while working with all levels of organization.


Duties of a Facility Operations Assistant may include the following but are not limited to:


Incumbent will be responsible for answering the phone making sure to identify themselves and manually log detailed information.


  • Incumbent will dispatch transport requests to / from the Hospital and its affiliated locations.
  • Gather data for scheduling of repairs, NYS Inspections, regular maintenance, etc. as needed, by filling out and submitting a Squawk Sheet to the Automotive Facility Operations Dept.
  • Incumbent will be responsible for maintaining work area clean, and organized.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Incumbent will assist with deliveries of Hospital orders delivered to the Receiving area when necessary.
  • Manually log all calls on a daily basis.


Qualifications


Required Qualifications:


  • Demographic knowledge of both the Eastern & Western Long Island as well the Metro NYC.
  • Ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor.
  • Some computer knowledge.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced office.
  • Ability to communicate orally, as well as read & write English.
  • Detail Oriented and Organized.

  • All Hospital positions maybe subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary.
  • This function/position maybe designated as “essential.” This means that when the Hospital is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook University Hospital and related facilities.
  • Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke free environment. Smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere on campus, including parking lots and outdoor areas on the premises.
  • This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection, which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair.


Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements:


  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services*
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen*


Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.


  • The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination .
