What you will be doing
The Sales Director for MWI's Swine team will structure, implement and oversee all field sales efforts to maximize the company’s gross margin plus contribution.
  • Work with Strategic Account Managers (SAMs) to identify sales needs (e.g., tools, marketing programs, information needs, etc.) and to maintain current perspective on the market environment and competitive activity.
  • Measure and monitor results against assigned key vendor budgets to ensure move-out objectives are fulfilled.
  • Ability to travel up to 75%
  • Develop yearly and monthly sales budgets, monitor performance of field sales team, and react to all risks and opportunities.
  • Develop and lead regional field sales force.
  • Work closely with other Leaders to create a team environment and to establish/implement overall sales and marketing programs and priorities.
  • Set goals and objectives for regional support roles.
  • Identify field sales training needs and work with Learning and Development team to coordinate training efforts.
  • Work with key customers and/or buying groups to ensure customer satisfaction and to identify future opportunities.
  • Work with SAMs on presenting strategic solutions, promoting house brands and executing on category management/vendor consolidation strategy.
  • Establish and implement systematic process for gathering, tracking and disseminating competitive activity from the field.
  • Handle day-to-day customer complaints, customer service issues, etc.
What your background should look like
Typically 5 or more years in a sales management position is required. Sales experience in the animal health industry is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree is desirable. Excellent presentation skills and a proven ability to sell are necessary. A valid driver license and good driving record are mandatory.

  • Build and Sustain Relationships: Establishes rapport with individuals; builds trust by dealing openly and honestly with all levels within the organization; uses effective communication and follow-through to sustain relationships.
  • Evaluate Effectiveness: Assesses the overall effectiveness of past and current initiatives from planning through implementation; reviews competitive and benchmark data; identifies strategic opportunities for improvement and incorporates ideas into the future planning activities.
  • Build Effective Teams: Develops an understanding of and assesses group dynamics; takes action to enhance the productivity and collaboration among subordinates and peers; creates an environment that encourages and reinforces teamwork.
  • Build Quality Service: Defines quality service based on customer needs, wants, expectations and profitability; aligns actions accordingly; remains sensitive and responsive to both internal and external customers; builds distinctive predictable levels of service; resolves problems quickly and effectively.
  • Speak Effectively: Speaks effectively in individual or group situations (i.e., meetings, presentations, interviews); able to organize and present information to others; delivers positive high impact presentations.

  • This Salary Range reflects a National Average for this job. The actual range may vary based on your locale. Ranges in Colorado/California/Washington State-specific locations may be up to 10% lower than the minimum salary range, and 12% higher than the maximum salary range.
