What you’ll do


The Director of Purchasing Indirect Services and Materials is responsible for sourcing and management of all contracts with external providers of goods and services to Scout Motors’ Indirect Purchasing teams, including an annual procurement budget of approximately $2 billion. The role oversees the Infrastructure, Services, Logistics and Marketing purchasing teams and develops strategies and policies related to the procurement of goods and services. The candidate must be familiar with the business concepts, practices, procedures and goals of each of the business areas. The role relies extensively on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

  • Ensure documentation of sourcing activities and decisions via Scout internal purchasing system.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Review and approve buyer sourcing projects, either for final approval or for presentation to corporate sourcing committees as required.
  • Assist suppliers in developing offerings to create a competitive environment to accommodate the needs of Scout Motors
  • Responsibility to ensure business continuity by purchasing goods and services at the best possible quality, price and timeliness.
  • Develop corporate strategies and policies with respect to purchasing matters
  • Build team environment to achieve goals and objectives as set forth by Scout Motors, Inc.
  • Review and approve Purchase Orders and Contracts according to Scout policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with Business Units and suppliers to aid in determining the most appropriate and cost-efficient solutions based on business needs
  • Lead a team in developing and executing compliant purchasing strategies in cooperation with Scout business units to maximize negotiated outcomes in areas of construction, M&E, marketing, building and equipment maintenance and other non-production requirements.
  • Develop specifications, bid terms and contractual language for competitive bid processes according to the Scout purchasing standards.
  • Evaluate and assess individual buyer performance as well as vendor performance


Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events. The role will be based out of a Scout Motors location in South Carolina. Applicants should expect that the role may require be able to travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • 15+ years in purchasing with experience in helping your team develop, source, and execute non-production services and materials including construction, M&E, marketing, IT, and other non-production services.
  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience developing and leading high-performing teams.
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking – using logic and reason

Pay Transparency


This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.


Initial base salary range: $165,000-$200,000
