This position contributes to Starbucks success by leading the 2-5 year food innovation pipeline as well as scaling the future of Food strategy for the U.S. business. As a director of the Food Innovation team, you will lead the full assortment and experience strategy for the U.S. food business, tied into business performance, food trends, consumer jobs and demand spaces, supplier innovation, and more.
Your team will validate and launch significant new platforms or changes to our food portfolio. Your team will scale the future of food testing from market test to national launch. You will partner cross-functionally on bringing consumer-centric programs and opportunities to test and ready for scale that span across assortment and experience. You will guide, coach, and develop a strong, high performing team. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.
As a director, product, Food Innovation you will…
  • Set personal and business goals, develop organizational capability, and model how cross functional groups work together toward a common goal
  • Represent the food innovation team in senior leader level forums
  • Work in tandem with portfolio insights team, product development team, consumer insights team, core food team and more
  • Manage, coach, and develop direct reports
  • Lead all aspects of feasibility and market tests for new big bet food programs; drive insights and recommendations
  • Deliver recommendations that demonstrate cross-functional strategic thinking and drive an initiative to conclusion
  • Lead foundational learning in partnership with consumer insights team to inform strategies or test programs
  • Lead the development of testing new food programs
  • Deliver strategic frameworks for the long term food pipeline
We’d Love To Hear From People With
  • Solid business acumen and skilled at business case creation and alignment
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations to executive level audiences (5+ years)
  • A great communicator, strong storytelling skills
  • The ability to identify and secure organizational support
  • A strong track record of leading big, complex, cross functional projects
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work experience or four years US military experience required
  • Strong at driving alignment, developing shared perspectives, and prescribing priorities
  • 10+ years of experience with previous experience in product, or product development
