Job Description
The primary purpose of this position is to identify and investigate theft/fraud in the pharmacy space. This position will direct activities around identification of issues that impact pharmacy loss, determine potential solutions, and implement projects to reduce and/or prevent pharmacy loss. The secondary purpose of this position is to communicate this information to Asset Protection Managers, Operations, and all other departments directly related to pharmacy loss and to provide training as needed. Additionally, this role takes the lead in communicating issues with senior organizational leadership and liaisons closely with Pharmacy Operations and with Legal Compliance. Frequent independent judgments are essential. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in observance of Rite Aid’s brand and strategy and adhere to our core values and service attributes.


  • Direct all aspects of pharmacy drug loss investigations for entire company by establishing and maintaining proper investigation protocol, create strategy and tactics to identify potential pharmacy loss and/or regulatory risk along with causation.
  • Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) Pharm D preferred.
  • Review all pharmacy investigations, prepare bi-weekly report, and lead the review team discussion to ensure timely investigations, regulatory compliance, appropriate sanctions, and follow up on all operational issues.
  • Act as Pharmacy Asset Protection liaison with internal departments to ensure that new or revised programs are compliant and procedures will not create pharmacy loss.
  • Serve as key company resource expert and lead liaison with other departments and field teams regarding DEA drug diversion investigations and controlled substance thresholds limitation and adherence while serving as co-lead decision maker for store and direct vendor partner threshold and prescriber base.
  • 7 years of experience in Multi-store experience in Asset Protection or Pharmacy required.
  • Develop training guidelines, train and mentor regarding pharmacy asset protection and regulatory compliance for Asset Protection District Managers and Pharmacy Operators.
  • Investigate any pharmacy related issues and maintain confidentiality of all investigations.
  • Manage, mentor, train and develop Profit Protection Analysts and raise the Asset Protection Department’s knowledge base regarding pharmacy policies and procedures to more easily address pharmacy loss and/or regulatory risk issues and conduct proper investigations.
  • Retail Pharmacy preferred.
  • Direct, enhance and develop continuous monitoring and exception reporting tools in order to identify pharmacy loss and suspicious controlled substance dispensing by store or prescriber.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or related required.


Pay range: $136,400 - $195,950
