Job Description

The Director of Youth, Teen & Teacher Programs oversees all programming, evaluation, coordination and policies pertaining to onsite programs, classes, and camps for youth ages 2-18, and all programming for teachers, including the management of related faculty and staff.

What You’ll do:

  • Evaluate programs through analysis of student evaluations, enrollment trends, and other qualitative and quantitative data, ensuring programs remain relevant and meet quality standards, and identifying areas for program growth/development.
  • Work collaboratively with other Educational Program directors and program managers on shared projects, initiatives and goals.
  • Develop and enforce policies pertaining to the operation of youth classes onsite.
  • Assess and address growth/professional development opportunities for faculty.
  • Supervise and manage youth, teen and teacher programs faculty and/or program staff, including Camp Director during summer camps, ensuring strong communication between faculty and administrative staff.
  • Be a liaison between school districts and the art center to grow the audience for programming for youth, teens and teachers.
  • Develop and manage programs and class offerings for youth, teens and teachers for three semesters (Fall, Spring, Summer), including camps, according to the vision and strategy determined by Art Center strategic plan and the Vice President of Education + Innovation.

Additional Job Functions:

  • Work with the Marketing department on production of class catalogs and other marketing related to youth and teacher programs.
  • Plan and execute program-related exhibitions and/or events, working alongside the appropriate departments.
  • Assist in reporting program outcomes to stakeholders as necessary, e.g. Art Center Board of Directors, funders, etc.
  • Provide program support for other Educational programs or activities, including attending critical program meeting dates, conducting observations, preparing materials, and additional duties as required.
  • Delegate administrative tasks to support staff and/or volunteers as needed.
  • Assist with Art Center major events, exhibitions, and performing additional duties as required.
  • Conduct regular observations of programs.

  • Management skills: Ability to motivate, coach, and develop direct reports
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Working knowledge of a variety of art media
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Organizational skills
  • Cultural competency: Ability to work effectively in cross-cultural situations

Education and Experience:

  • Project management experience
  • Experience developing curricula or writing lesson plans
  • Prior K-12 teaching experience preferred
  • A combination of education, training and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree in art, art education or a related field

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Works regular hours; some evening and weekend hours are required
  • Individuals must be able to move freely about the work site.
  • Occasional physical demands associated with carrying/moving art materials and supplies, installing exhibitions; must be able to climb ladders and lift a maximum of 50 lbs.
  • Works primarily indoors in open office environment
  • Individuals must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
