Job Summary: The Director of Technology is responsible and accountable for the organization’s internal and 3rd party information technology systems and solutions. This position will oversee and manage the development, implementation, maintenance, administration, and support of the company’s technology tools based on the information technology and business department requirements.
The Director of Technology will also manage a staff of IT professionals and work directly with the leadership and management team(s). This position is also expected to facilitate the adoption of new or improved processes and/or procedures across the company to improve productivity in the department and with the end user community. This high-level role is responsible for shaping and executing the technological vision of the company, in collaboration with senior executives.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
- Travel as needed to support remote locations and attend training and conferences.
- Manage IT strategic planning, which includes project planning, organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources based on project demands and the unexpected changes that occur within the incident and problem management areas.
- Identify potential technological risks and devise contingency plans to mitigate them. Plan for disaster recovery and business continuity.
- Manage the administration and upgrade of multiple information technology tools that are used to conduct day to day operations within the enterprise. Ensure systems are reviewed on a periodic basis to confirm the possibility of needed upgrades of service packs, software versions, licenses or hardware infrastructure.
- Define the overall technical architecture and ensure that systems and applications are designed for optimal performance, scalability, security, and maintainability.
- Develop and communicate a clear and comprehensive technology strategy that supports the company's overall business objectives and growth plans.
- Manage cloud-based information technology products and services to ensure high levels or performance and availability to the end users of the organization.
- Evaluate and manage technology vendors, partners, and third-party services to ensure they align with the company's technology goals and deliver value.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and industry best practices. Identify opportunities for innovation and lead efforts to apply new technologies to solve business challenges and deliver solutions to end user customers
- Oversee the management of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, databases, and cloud services. Ensure operational efficiency, uptime, and data security.
- Develop and implement robust cybersecurity strategies to protect the company's data, systems, and customer information from potential threats and breaches.
Required Qualifications
- Working knowledge of ERP systems tailored for distribution and a proven track record of successfully implementing processes utilizing API functionality and EDI technology.
- Experience working in VMware virtualization environments.
- Experience with modern eCommerce platforms and support for digital marketplaces (Amazon, Walmart, eBay etc.) and the tools used to manage them.
- Communicates effectively with analysts and leadership members.
- Display strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT field or equivalent work experience
- Advanced knowledge of technology systems and an ability to conduct project management.
- Strong leadership skills with an ability to motivate teams to accomplish goals within tight time frames.
- Minimum 7+ years experience in an IT leadership role within the distribution industry
- 2+ years working in a senior leadership position in IT or related field
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to influence others and communicate IT concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.
- Ability to work independently and skilled in exercising a high degree of initiative, independent judgment, discretion and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives.
Desired Qualifications:
- Structured Query Language and API usage scripting
- Experience with web programming language such as PHP, Java or Python.
- Utilizing AI technology in a business environment.
- Azure 365 Cloud Certifications
- Working with various database configurations including PIM, product information management platforms.
- SQL scripts and queries
- Experience working with procurement & Supply Chain platforms (Ariba, Amazon, Meplato)
- Past experience working with industrial vending solutions and integration with ERP systems.
