  • Develop and implement programming that supports the Institute's emphasis on active, experiential and integrative learning and inclusive pedagogy.
  • Design, organize and facilitate professional development opportunities (e.g. workshops, communities of practice) and resources for faculty focused on evidence-based teaching innovation and enhancement. Curate and maintain online/ad hoc resources with the same purpose.
  • Provide faculty mentorship (such as one-on-one teaching consultations and classroom visits) focusing on continual growth in individual teaching practice, including professional development opportunities.

Prepare & support new faculty development

  • Provide professional development opportunities for new faculty (and new to teaching faculty / staff) to enhance their teaching skills and knowledge of best practices.
  • Support the development of innovative teaching methods including the use of technology for learning.
  • Create and implement a systematic approach to onboarding, training, and supporting highly qualified and effective full-time faculty and faculty associates (part-time).

Strategic Planning

  • In collaboration with the CAO, AVP for Student Experience, Academic Affairs Leadership, develop a vision for the Center for Teaching and Learning that is consistent with the Institute's mission and vision.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of a strategic plan that flows from that mission and vision.
  • Develop partnerships as deemed in line with the Institute's mission and priorities, and in consultation with the President, CAO, and AVP for Student Experience
  • Collaborate closely with the AVP for Career Development in all matters related to the teaching and learning within the Career Development program, as part of the overall Institute programming.

  • Demonstrate active professional development for the advance of all of the above duties.
  • Represent the College with matters related to learning and teaching, in collaboration with Academic Affairs and other departments.

  • Collegial management and leadership, particularly in a fast-paced environment
  • Direct experience conducting successful faculty development programming and activities

  • Minimum 5 years direct teaching experience in secondary or [AM1] post-secondary education
