Director of Supply Chain Management and Planning

We are an industry-leading engineering firm specializing in performance automotive products looking for a Director of Supply Chain Management and Planning to join our team. As the Director of Supply Chain Management and Planning, you will be the integration point between Sales, Product and Purchasing and will lead the corporate dialogue around forecasting and planning to support our vendors and customers.


What You'll Do:

Oversee the Purchasing, Planning, Forecasting and Inventory Control Functions

  • Manage department level KPIs, while working collaboratively with other teams to ensure that their KPIs are in line with the overall forecast and plan.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining forecast models for products and customers, leveraging information from business intelligence systems and information gathered from sales, marketing, finance, distribution and other sources.
  • Interact with Sales, Marketing, Distribution and Product to understand demand forecast drivers and constraints.
  • Use and maintain the Demand Planning software as the primary forecasting system tool.
  • Review weekly inventory trends and discusses variations with the appropriate team member. Work side-by-side with the warehouse teams to minimize inventory discrepancies and stock-outs.
  • Use data (market, price, delivery conditions, and trends) to determine present and future material availability and needs, creating a just-in-time model for forecasting and subsequent purchasing. Forecasting is an art and you do it well.
  • Manage, review, and execute supply contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and other similar legal documents.
  • Responsible for key demand planning metrics and tracking of benefits and improvements to the supply chain.
  • Responsible for development and active management of a comprehensive budget for the purchasing department, including participating in the annual budgeting process, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective action.
  • Lead a team of individuals and support them in a collaborative manner, to obtain and ensure accurate forecasts, inventories and purchases are maintained.
  • Develop purchasing strategies to ensure we have just enough product in-house ready to be shipped, without having excess inventory levels. Ensure inventory values are in line with the projected need.
  • Create, execute, and maintain a purchasing strategy that achieves corporate objectives, such as risk-diversification, continuity of supply, cost reduction, and quality standards.
  • Develop and implement purchasing and inventory control procedures and sequence of operations within the department to optimize cost-effective inventory levels.
  • Manage those responsible for the day to day purchasing and inventory management operations.

Your Creds:

  • CPIM certification a plus
  • 5+ years' experience creating statistical forecasts
  • Knowledge and experience working with budget planning and demand planning analysis tools.
  • Experience with legal documents, language, and process related to supplier agreements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or other closely related field.
  • 5+ years' experience maintaining and configuring demand planning systems and software
  • Experience with international imports.
  • Experience providing input into volume planning and constraint planning.
  • Master's level education preferred.
  • 7-10 years' experience managing purchasing operations with international scope.
