About the Role:
As our Director of Construction, you will play a critical role in supporting the company's efforts to deliver on our ambitious store growth goals, overseeing the design and construction of our Franchisee's retail stores. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of relevant experience in high-growth retail or foodservice. Our Store Development team's mission is to open high-quality stores, on time and on budget.
Responsibilities:
- Develop the vision, strategy, processes, and resources for the Construction department to scale at the ambitious rate that we are looking to scale
- Directly oversee construction projects as required. Manage internal and external project team members, select contractors, coordinate with all vendors, conduct site inspections, monitor budgets, prepare weekly updates, and anticipate risks.
- Develop and execute strategies to deliver increasingly efficient and successful construction projects, balancing our brand vision with our business goals on every project
- Collaborate with our Real Estate team to conduct field surveys, estimate budgets, and perform due diligence on potential new locations, ensuring that aesthetic and construction concerns are accounted for
- Communicate project statuses and priorities with written/oral executive summaries and detailed reports to all relevant leaders and teams, helping us all stay coordinated and focused
- Collaborate with external architects, internal project managers, and our Retail team to uphold our design intentions while meeting budgets and the thorough specifications of city planning and building departments
- Directly oversee the Construction Project Managers
- Lead the store development process and collaborate with the Real Estate, Franchise Development and Operations teams to ensure the delivery of attractive and functional stores on time and on budget
- Project Managers are responsible for working with pre-selected General Contractors to ensure project completion to the standards we have set forth
Candidate Requirements:
- Extensive architectural, engineering, and construction materials and techniques knowledge.
- 10+ years managing retail construction projects.
- Self-starter with ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
- High degree of reliability with ability to travel extensively.
- Experience in a high-growth retail environment preferred.
