Description
The Director of Special Programs will manage all aspects of specialized self-support academic programs, primarily College in the High School (CHS), Summer/Fall Washington Business Week (WBW) Program, Prior Learning (PL) and other customized Outreach programs in an effective and efficient manner.
The position works as a representative of the college within the local community and will interact with business/industry, governmental entities, school districts (including the EC/ESD Articulation Council) and other intra college work groups (including the Washington State Work Groups for Dual Enrollment and Prior Learning Assessment) etc. Marketing and developing special academic programs will include positive interactions with other college program directors, parents, students, college staff, faculty and business/district/government contacts.
The principle challenge of this position is to ensure that the special programs operate within the state and national guidelines and as a self-support program which requires excellent relations with college staff, academic departments and outside interested groups/clients/students. Other duties may be assigned.
This position requires good communication skills, both oral and written; strong critical thinking skills; the ability to take initiative and work independently as well as part of a team; flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and needs; excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; strong organization and prioritization skills; advanced knowledge of Google, MS Office programs; and adept at learning new proprietary software.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
Ensure academic excellence and accountability for the specialized academic programs of Prior Learning Assessment, Washington Business Week, College in the High School, and other specialized Outreach programs.
Manage the programs within college policies/procedures, accreditation requirements (regional, national) and within state WAC 392-725 "College in the High School Rules" and NACEP (National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships) Standards--Edmonds College's CHS Program is accredited by the latter.
Under the direction of the Deans of STEM, Humanities and Social Sciences, Business and appropriate Department Heads, finalize the appointment of College in the High School Adjunct Faculty including professional development, hiring and payroll processes.
