Job Description

Summary

The Director of Sales oversees the Sales & Marketing Department and works with the executive committee in achieving the hotel’s market positioning and revenue goals. Provides support and advice to the General Manager in strategic planning and overall business goals relating to Sales & Marketing issues of the brand and the hotel. Protects and guards corporate standards, brand integrity and Hotel image.

Marketing Analysis & Positioning:

  • Provides a professional, advisory and executive support to the General Manager in meeting strategic goals. Understand the composition of hotel profitability, and uses this to evaluate business from local accounts and groups so as to provide input to future rate setting and negotiation.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedure for the department and hotel.
  • Plans and develops annual budget, marketing strategies and promotion plans with General Manager based on hotel and corporate guidelines.
  • To set and meet hotel objectives, sales target and budgeted revenues.
  • Development and implement hotel’s Sales and Marketing plans.
  • Establishes pricing strategies and sales targets for the hotel.
  • Constant review and update pricing strategy on all distribution channels to maximize revenue for the hotel.
  • To recommend solutions and strategies to further improve sales performance for the hotel.
  • Monitor and evaluates competitive set performance, market trend and implement marketing strategies initiatives.
  • Constant review and monitor sales account and online activities.
  • Identify market needs and develop product accordingly.
  • Monitor monthly outlook/forecast for rooms and catering.
  • Conduct Sales visit together with Sales Team.
  • Conduct Overseas Sales Trips and Trade Shows to target market.

Cooperation with Corporate Office and Participate in all marketing activities / promos:

  • Liaises with Corporate office to ensure execution and smooth flow through of all Sales & Marketing initiatives.
  • Participates in corporate office-initiated sales and marketing events.
  • To provide supervision, drive and motivate Sales & Marketing Team including reservations to achieve results.
  • Manages special projects and other business-related enterprises.
  • Represents and promotes the hotel to all sectors in the community locally and overseas.
  • Manages guest relations and client services including guest and client need, product and service knowledge, sales effectiveness, communication skills and guest and client feedback.

Department Administrative Management

  • Manages departmental changes and ensuring processes and required infrastructure are in place.
  • Manages departmental expenses and budget.
  • Ensures efficient utilization of departmental resources.
  • Ensures files, correspondence and other relevant business documentation are maintained.
  • Ensures the development, update and maintenance of promotional materials.
  • Reports on the effectiveness of Sales and Marketing programs. Recruitment, training & development, team building, staff performance planning and review.
  • To plan, schedule and implement appropriate training interventions to all levels to meet the needs of the department and staff.
  • To role coach mid-level executives in the department.
  • To ensure that all necessary working tools and equipment are provided to all staff in order to function efficiently.
  • To ensure staff in the department is aware of their duties & responsibilities
  • All other tasks and duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years boutique luxury experience in Sales and Marketing. Two years at Director Level preferred.
  • Bachelor degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.
  • Proven team leader with track record of living the brand’s values. Results oriented with an emphasis on both individual and team accountability.
  • Excellent planning, organization, presentation, time management and communication skills required.
  • Analytical skills, as well as problem recognition and resolution skills.
  • Technologically savvy, expert in Microsoft Excel, possessing the aptitude and desire to learn new technology.
