Title: Director of Safety & Compliance


Location: All


The Director of Safety & Compliance is responsible for encouraging and maintaining the highest level of associate safety and compliance.


Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Defines, develops, and implements programs to ensure compliance and proper engagement with rules and regulations of the DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, local


regulations and company standards.


  • Provides forklift training to employees on a scheduled basis.
  • Serves as System Matter Expert that adheres to and proposes best practices and plans for new regulations, policies, and best practices.
  • Responsible for running and reviewing MVR reports to ensure compliance.
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Manages the administration of the Clearinghouse entries and reporting requirements.
  • Maintains DOT driver files & vehicle files as well as performs periodic audits to the DOT driver files to ensure compliance.
  • Partners with location General Manager’s related to facility, security and equipment maintenance.
  • Coordinate tracking of company health & safety performance metrics
  • Works with CFO & HR Manager to process vehicle accident insurance claims.
  • Administers the vendor certificate of insurance documents.
  • Manages and leads the safety team meetings as well as develops and implements safety training and awareness programs.
  • Ensures all locations are in compliance with EPA environmental standards and regulations.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to health & safety systems to reduce costs, increase productivity and efficiency, and improve the overall safety culture
  • Monitor the development and revision of applicable health & safety regulations for potential impacts on locations and operations
  • Investigates, analyzes, and reports any injury or vehicle accidents or unsafe events and suggests remedial and preventative actions.
  • Develop and implement an internal corporate health & safety audit process


Qualifications and Skills:


  • Ability to protect confidential information
  • Certifications preferred including CSP, OHST
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrated experience developing positive relationships, including effective resolution of compliance issues with state and federal agencies
  • In-depth knowledge of: Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations Federal, state DOT, OHSA and related regulations
  • A working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and complete multiple projects simultaneously
  • 3+ years’ experience in transportation industry or safety preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in relative field.
