Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Retail to oversee our cannabis retail operations. As the Director of Retail, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to drive sales, enhance customer experience, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Your leadership and expertise will play a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining a successful and compliant cannabis retail business. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement the overall retail strategy for cannabis operations, including short-term and long-term goals, to drive revenue growth and achieve business objectives. Lead and manage a team of dispensary managers, ensuring effective communication, training, and development to drive exceptional customer service and operational efficiency. Oversee the selection, training, and performance management of dispensary staff, including budtenders and other customer-facing roles, to ensure compliance, product knowledge, and exceptional customer experience. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as marketing, operations, and compliance, to develop and execute marketing initiatives, inventory management strategies, and operational protocols. Stay abreast of the latest trends and developments in the cannabis industry, including regulatory changes, consumer preferences, and competitor activities, and adjust strategies accordingly. Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations governing the retail sale of cannabis products, including licensing, security, and record-keeping requirements. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to measure the success of retail operations, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions. Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and partners to ensure consistent supply chain management and high-quality product offerings. Conduct regular store visits and audits to assess compliance, operational standards, visual merchandising, and customer service levels across all retail locations. Collaborate with the executive team and Finance to create and manage budgets, analyze financial performance, and make data-driven recommendations for improving profitability.

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
  • Proven experience (at least 5 years) in managing retail operations, preferably in the cannabis industry or a highly regulated retail sector.
  • A deep passion for the cannabis industry and its potential to positively impact people's lives.
  • Cannabis experience a plus Bachelor's degree in business administration, retail management, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent understanding of customer experience principles and the ability to create an exceptional retail environment.
  • Sound business acumen with the ability to develop and implement strategic plans, manage budgets, and analyze financial data.
  • In-depth knowledge of cannabis products, regulations, and compliance requirements, including licensing, security, inventory management, and point-of-sale systems.
  • Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to build, develop, and motivate high-performing teams.
