Job Description
The Retail Banking Director is responsible for overseeing and directing all aspects of the operations of the retail branch offices to ensure efficient operations of each branch, delivery of quality customer service in all interactions, and compliance with existing regulations and policies. The incumbent will ensure that branch offices consistently apply and adhere to applicable policies and procedures and ensure that customers are being serviced at the highest level. In addition, develops and implements tactical plans and establishes objectives for the branches that are aligned with the bank’s strategic goals. Successfully establishes strong customer relationships and teaches relationship building techniques to branch employees.
Experience & Education Requirements
  • Ten or more years of experience working in retail operations of a community bank
  • Experience with digital and electronic banking
  • Extensive knowledge in financial institution operating policies and procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business management or related field or the equivalent retail banking experience
  • Strong supervisory, leadership and employee development skills
Essential Job Functions
  • Maintain overall responsibility for the Bank’s retail banking network, including the implementation of strategies and establishment of goals to achieve growth, profit and operational efficiency
  • Oversee training and development programs of the retail department
  • Assists as requested with developing, implementing and marketing new products and services
  • Actively participates in community organizations and events to enhance the Bank’s presence and support the development of new customer relationships
  • Responsible for assisting with new products and services to improve the market share and increase deposit volume to achieve the Bank’s overall deposit goals
  • Analyze and prepares reports related to branch activities such as sales and profitability and provides related information to the President/COO/Treasurer
  • Participate in the preparation and updating of the strategic plan and the annual budgeting process as requested
  • Ensure that managers and personnel are well trained and utilized in the most effective manner in order to provide the highest level of service to the Bank’s customers
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations that impact the Retail Department
  • Monitor market trends, customer demographics, industry trends and makes appropriate recommendations
  • Provide overall direction, guidance, and support to direct reports/departmental managers
  • Implement appropriate policies and procedures to ensure efficiencies within retail banking
  • Analyze the customer database and recommend enhancements to the customer’s experience by offering various products and services
  • Actively participate as a member of senior management serving on the Technology, DR/BCP, Compliance, SAR and Management committees
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Able to work in a fast paced, changing environment and prioritize work assignments effectively
  • Excellent communication skills to establish relationships with the communities and effectively convey goals and initiatives to staff and management
  • Compliance with BSA regulations as appropriate to the position
  • Proficiency with digital banking and the management of a call center
  • Superior knowledge of retail banking operational activities and thorough understanding of all products and services
  • Ability to establish realistic and specific goals for self and others and keep the branches on track toward goal achievement
  • Must be able to handle escalated member issues or inquiries in a satisfactory manner
Physical Demands And Work Environment
  • Frequently local travel for bank purposes and/or on behalf of the bank (i.e. visiting other worksites, networking, community/marketing events)
  • Must be able to work schedules that meet the needs of the Bank, which may include early morning, evening and /or weekend hours
  • Ability to use standard equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers
  • Sitting for longer periods of time

Salary range $104,518. - $198,614.
