Job Title: Director of Operations

In existence since 2021, Worth’s ownership group has over 100 years of industrial, logistics, manufacturing, and fabrication experience working on such projects as schools, distribution centers, churches, commercial, manufacturing, and other large structures requiring fabricated steel. With our commitment to quality, safety, and timely project delivery, we have become a trusted partner for clients located in Texas, surrounding States, and the Southeast.

Job Summary:

The Director of Operations will work with the CEO, Sales, Purchasing, PMO, and Estimators on every project managed through the factory. They will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee operations activities in the organization, ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the organization. The position reports to the CEO and will be accountable to the Board of Directors.

Duties / Responsibilities:

·Responsible for developing and managing a team that performs fabrication, welding, assembly for custom steel fabrication of permanent and temporary works.

·Hire, lead, and develop management-level staff in the department.

·Ensures compliance with current federal, state and local regulations. Consults with Human Resources Department as appropriate.

·Plan, organize, and control production in the fabrication department to ensure that materials are produced efficiently, on time, within budget, and to standard.

·Community involvement, customer involvement, professional association involvement.

·Provides leadership regarding safety and training. Fosters a Safety Culture within the shop.

·Provides leadership regarding quality. Eliminates reworks, rejected or sloppy work.

·Understands cost control systems, productivity tracking, resource scheduling, and overall budget management.

·Oversees and participates in all necessary paperwork, e.g., daily time sheets, safety and quality audits, customer-required paperwork, equipment inspections, etc.

·Advises Project Management of potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties; assists in resolving such problems, as required.

·Develop a train the trainer culture where all aspects of the Worth culture and job expectations can be passed down from managers to every level within the shop environment.

·Develop and implement efficient operational strategies to optimize productivity and reduce costs.

·Oversees the daily workflow of the department.

·Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.

Required Skills and Responsibilities:

·Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the structural steel fabrication industry.

·Excellent organizational, negotiation skills and attention to detail to effectively communicate with the Worth Steel team and our clients.

·Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

·Business planning and budget preparation / management skills

·Analytical ability to measure and execute on KPI’s

·Demonstrated financial acumen and financial decision-making

·Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and construction industry-related software.

·Extensive knowledge and experience within the interior and exterior construction scopes of structural steel fabrication

·Strong sense of urgency and ability to work through bid process and address customer needs and request and balancing business needs.

·Must be able to read and interpret architectural drawings & shop drawings

·Must be proficient at layout and scaling dimensions

Preferred but not required - Knowledge with CNC mills, CNC plasma tables, CNC Lathe

Experience with CAD programs (Solidworks, Fusion 360, Autocad)

Education and Experience:

·Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or other industry-related field required; MBA preferred.

·At least 10 years of structural steel fabrication experience including five years in upper management required.

·Must have supervisory experience in metal fabrication/manufacturing environment

·Structural metal fabrication that includes but is not limited to: beams, columns etc. Experience with miscellaneous fabrication of Handrails and Guardrails Architectural Metal Fabrication that includes but is not limited to: Press brake; Flat pattern layout cutting and drilling; Operating metal shears; Drill press & various shop machinery.
