Position Purpose


The Director of Operations will be a crucial member of GoldRiver Orchard’s leadership team. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring the overall success and performance of the facility. The successful candidate will be comfortable pivoting between “rolling up their sleeves” to manage and delegate responsibilities on day-to-day tactical issues as well as mapping out and executing strategic initiatives. The ability to make data driven decisions will be critical and the Director of Ops will have to work with other internal stakeholders to identify what data is needed, how to interpret it, and how to develop data driven action plans.


This includes hands-on management of Supply & Demand capacity, cost monitoring, as well as extensive process improvement management. We are a safety first organization, hence, ensuring a safe and injury/incident-free environment within the facility is our number one priority.

Primary responsibilities:


Supply Chain Management (40%)


  • Responsible for building, forecasting, and maintaining production and supply/demand planning models for the operations team. This includes short, medium, and long term forecasting.


  • Adept in cross-functional collaboration—specifically with sales & marketing teams—to create accurate inventory allocation strategies and deliver on SLAs.


  • Analyze historical data by SKU to identify trends and patterns to help with creating effective inventory strategies. This includes creating & implementing policies & procedures that support accurate inventory status of all SKUs within the facility.


  • Lead weekly team S&OP meetings to review & make changes to the supply/demand plans.


  • Create capacity plans for the operations team including seasonal fluctuations for labor and operations equipment & machinery.


  • Manage relationships with multiple vendors while diligently sourcing for cost effective procurement options.


  • Evaluate, recommend, and drive software requirements that are needed to effectively manage our end-to-end supply chain.


  • Direct procurement, distribution, transportation, and order fulfilment.


Operations Management (30%)


  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the facility including operational cost, budget monitoring, receiving, production, packing, and shipping/logistics.


  • Lead material and information flow mapping, root cause analysis, and process improvement strategies for the facility.


  • Collaborate with the Reliability, Maintenance, and Engineering (RME) team to evaluate & determine ROI for capital expenditure, as well as ensuring all equipment, machinery, and PMs are up-to-date.


  • Establish and monitor interdepartmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as well as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), to ensure top-notch plant performance.


  • Work closely with the QA Manager to support continuous food safety monitoring and ensure compliance with all SQF, USDA, FDA, FSMA, and HACCP requirements.


  • Responsible for performance of plant operations focusing on cost, quality, safety, & employee culture.


Team & Process Development (30%)


  • Know what you don’t know!Leverage your peers, identify training gaps, seek out external consultants, gauge networks, and foster the collaborative Goldriver culture to raise the organization as a whole. (Do not fake it ‘till you make it)


  • Develop annual budget in conjunction with senior management and plant leadership team.


  • Monitor and control departmental costs in comparison with budgetary objectives. Drive detailed labor and cost variance analysis by department to support monthly financial reviews.


  • Mentor department managers in the development of labor and machine usage and continuous improvement strategies to better the utilize resources.


  • Continually assess the organizational structure needed to deliver high-standards of quality and the most optimal cost.


  • Coach, develop, train, and establish expectations for the operations team.


  • Create fair, but progressively higher standards of execution for the team.Establish measurable means of accountability.


  • Lead, influence and motivate a large workforce through interpersonal and teambuilding skills.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES


  • Full scope supply chain understanding (from procure to pay).
  • 5+ years of managing and developing a team of up to 6 direct reports in operations. This includes mapping out growth plans for direct reports.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and data visualizations programs are strongly preferred.
  • Results-driven mentality and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while prioritizing tasks based on urgency.


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS


  • APICS certification strongly preferred
  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain/Finance/Management, or relevant experience
