Job Description

The Opportunity

JIS is looking for an initiative-taking, collaborative Operations & Supply Chain Director (OSCD) that is excited to drive improvement strategies to efficiently scale critical business processes. Success in this role is key to continued growth in our company.

The qualified candidate will be in charge of all day-to-day operations regarding Supply Chain activities.

Collaborating closely with other business leaders, this leader will also provide overarching supply chain strategies to support the successful execution of the business strategic plans to ensure overall company objectives are realized.

The OSCD will provide leadership and strategy for supply chain functions including –

● Materials Management ● Direct/Indirect Sourcing● Sourcing/Quoting

● Supplier Performance● Inbound/Outbound Transportation● Brand/Pricing Management

● Working Capital Efficiency● Warehouse Real Estate● Facility/Equipment Maintenance

Responsibilities


Order Fulfillment Execution

  • Drive results by developing, monitoring, and reporting key performance indicators for success within all aspects of order fulfillment activities
  • Accelerate warehouse modernization and automation
  • Establish day-to-day operational guidelines for maximum effectiveness and efficiency
  • Ship orders from all sales channels complete, on-time, and free of damage
  • Support for new business (new geographies, new channels)
  • Uphold safety standards to ensure a healthy work environment; add additional safety standards as needed


Materials Management

  • Partner with sales team and other key stake holders to further improve systems, tools, data analytics & insights to enable an improved business and operational performance.
  • Design and/or deploy Materials Management standards, processes and tools across the business to accelerate the establishment of process and people capabilities.
  • Day-to-day execution of purchasing ensuring JIS order fulfillment needs are met
  • Supplier performance

  • S&OP development
  • Sourcing/quoting


Talent Development

  • Recruit, develop and retain top talent. Create succession plans for key roles.
  • Lead, coach, and develop resources towards better supply chain processes, performance metrics, and business analytics.
  • Provide exceptional leadership of people. Build a culture of accountability and engagement to create a high-performing team.


Working Capital Efficiency

  • Develop and/or deploy systems and tools to optimize inventory levels
  • Create dashboards to highlight inventory management performance


Continuous Improvement Culture

  • Provide supply chain and operations support to accelerate business process improvements and system enhancements for greater control, operating efficiencies, and best practices across JIS
  • Implement processes and technology to advance efficiencies across the team and supply chain
  • Drive a clear roadmap to establish Supply Chain as a competitive advantage for JIS


Qualifications

15+ years experience of progressively increasing responsibility in operations and/or supply chain

10+ years of demonstrated leadership capabilities leading a key business function

Self-motivated and purposeful, desire to deliver results

Proven experience leading and coaching to improve individual and team performance.

Ability to create and deliver business proposals presentations

Establishing KPIs aligned with overall business objectives

Creating and/or implementing best practices or new business operating standards

Superior lean and process skills (development, analysis, documentation, improvement and management).

Knowledge of MS Office software

Working knowledge in an ERP Purchasing System

Direct working knowledge of budgeting

Effective communication skills to translate strategy to action for employee groups

Uncompromised integrity, honesty and drive to do what is best for the business.

Desired Experience / Skills

Excellent industry, business and financial acumen especially as related to supply chain and sourcing.

Day-to-day involvement in a “customer first” team-based environment

Experience in a fast paced, short cycle time warehousing and order fulfillment operation

Position Requirements

2-4 years of secondary education or equivalent professional experience

Overnight travel as needed (<10%)
