Job Description
Job Title: Director of Operations
Reports to: Sr. Director of NA Distribution & Logistics
Location: Mooresville
The Role
As a director, within Deckers’ distribution centers, the director is responsible for leading effective teams, implementing operational strategy, business processes and systems for overall distribution operations, including fulfillment, warehousing, inventory management, and shipping. Empowered to make decisions and drive results with their operational departments and accountable for all operational KPIs (safety, service levels, cost per unit, quality, % to sales) for their area within the DC.
Responsible for working with a broad set of distribution, facilities, engineering, supply chain, IT and commercial stakeholders to facilitate the development and testing of new, innovative operational solutions to meet the supply chain’s goals of safety, speed, quality and throughput. Ability to thrive in the complexity of a multi-brand, multi-channel distribution center needing to respond quickly to the rapid timeline demanded by the changing retail landscape and ongoing supply chain disruption.

Your Impact
The primary functions of this role, include but are not limited to:
  • Set a clear expectation that the safety and well-being of our associates is our top priority. Lead with an understanding that all incidents are preventable.
  • Makes decisions and drive results with their operational departments and accountable for all operational KPIs (safety, service levels, cost per unit, quality, % to sales) for their area within the DC.
  • Leads effective teams, implements operational strategy, business processes and systems
  • Leads and oversees the performance of 200-500 employees at any given time, both Deckers and contract employees across multiple shifts. Ensures all employees are trained and aware of and comply with company, government and customer policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Ensures all established service, cost, quality and performance metrics/commitments are met. Helps drive efficiencies of multi-million-dollar budget.
Who You Are
  • Understanding of strategic role, the Distribution Center plays in customer experience and Supply Chain
  • Strong interpersonal skills - Must be able to work well with and influence management peer group as well as interact with senior leadership across the company on a regular basis
  • Ability to analyze warehouse processes and develop, recommend and implement improvements to systems, processes, and staffing levels, organization, and/or skillsets
  • Strong tactical management experience
  • Ability to handle changing priorities and use of good judgement in stressful situations.
  • Experience managing large scale distribution staff and facilities operations.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and proactively manage through conflicts and setbacks
We’d love to hear from people with
  • Experience creating and implementing continuous improvement initiatives including but not limited to Kaizen and Lean Six Sigma where you were able to cut costs, improve efficiency or streamline processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred or related field
  • Experience and strong proficiency in utilizing WMS, WCS and LMS systems
  • Experience in optimizing operations in a multi-channel environment
  • Development and management of operational budgets
  • 10 plus years’ experience in fast-paced Distribution environment.
  • Experience with developing key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operations and financial objectives
