Job Description

Director of Operations


What it takes:

We are looking for a highly enthusiastic leader with exceptional communication skills, leadership abilities, and exceptional knowledge of manufacturing operations.


As the Director of Operations, you will be the driving force behind the day-to-day manufacturing operations of Integrated Systems Business Units, ensuring high-quality, high-reliability products are produced and shipped on time to our worldwide customers. You will be responsible for planning and directing all manufacturing activities to exceed customer expectations, while achieving company goals such as on-time delivery and consistently maintaining superior quality standards. This position oversees integrated product design to ensure products meet manufacturability and testability requirements. In addition, you support acquisitions globally to ensure transition to the Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Solutions culture. As a strategic thinker, you are empowered to articulate a clear vision for the department, taking it to new levels using modern manufacturing techniques. Position reports directly to General Manager/Business Unit Lead and requires minimal supervision.


Your Challenge

  • Overall facility management (maintenance and security).
  • Meet cost and performance targets/objectives;
  • Drive operational excellence through world-class manufacturing processes;
  • Develop and maintain departmental operating and capital budgets;
  • Work with the integrated product design teams to ensure products meet manufacturability and testability requirements;
  • Ensure the on-time delivery of finished goods in accordance with established product manufacturing and quality documentation;
  • Monitor, train and adjust resources to meet production throughput targets;
  • Develop and direct a manufacturing engineering function aimed at improving the manufacturability and throughput of products and further reducing product costs.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement using statistical process control data, Six Sigma and LEAN techniques;

Your Expertise

  • Operates with a sense of urgency and drives others to achieve results;
  • Background in fast-paced innovative hi-tech industry, preferably in rugged electronics, high complexity product;
  • Proven track record in innovative problem solving, effective communication and excellent leadership skills;
  • Bachelor of Science degree/diploma in an electronics discipline or equivalent;
  • Commitment to hiring and retaining the best;
  • Experience in lean manufacturing techniques
  • Track record of producing results and meeting on-time delivery goals;
  • Minimum 10 to 15 years’ experience in the manufacturing environment with 7+ years’ experience in management;
  • Knowledge of environmental and health and safety programs;
  • Accepts accountability for the need to consistently achieve targeted goals
  • Knowledge of best practice manufacturing processes (AS9100, SAP, MES, etc)
