DIRECTOR OF NUTRITION SERVICES

Position Criteria:
  • Experience in large food service setting or multi-production kitchen setting highly desirable
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics, Hospitality, or Business related field
  • Experience in kitchen design and opening new operations highly desirable
  • Experience in large quantity institution meal planning and preparation
  • School Nutrition Association Certification, HACCP Certified, ServSafe Certification preferred or willingness to obtain immediately after hire
Performance Criteria:
  • Work with Technology Support Coordinator to implement, upgrade and monitor current hardware and software needs for the nutrition department
  • Monitor food safety compliance in accordance with county, state and federal health codes. Monitor HACCP based food safety plan.
  • Develop, direct and execute retention,recruiting, incentive and recognition initiatives for the nutrition department
  • Coach, counsel and train Nutrition Administrative Staff, Kitchen Site Supervisors, Floating Supervisors, Delivery Drivers and Floating General Workers.
  • Oversees inventory management of food, supplies, small equipment and large equipment
  • Oversee departmental needs for students needing special needs diets or students with life-threatening allergies.
  • Oversee Farm to School initiatives
  • Oversee District Wellness Policy initiatives
  • Management oversight of equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Direct and monitor the purchasing, ordering, receiving, distribution and storage of food and related supplies and equipment to school sites
  • Train direct reports and communicate goals; meet with direct reports daily, weekly, monthly and as needed. Attend district and state meetings, state and national conferences and professional development opportunities.
  • Directs and executes regulatory agency standards/initiatives
  • Oversee administration of accounts payable, accounts receivable, free and reduced eligibility applications, Direct Certification and payroll.
  • Responsible for procurement of all goods and services for the department in accordance with National School Lunch Program guidelines
  • Prepare product specifications and Request For Proposal for WASS area co-op and conduct required audits
  • Oversee Summer Food Service Program
  • Facilities management for all school kitchens and programs. (All sites have full production kitchens-15 site kitchens, WILC, VMLC-pre-school and 12+) Site visits for inspecting kitchens and operations to ensure compliance.
  • Accountable for ensuring a continuous improvement of the entire department USDA Federal requirements, State Department initiatives and requirements, local and district regulations
  • Planning and oversight of new projects including new kitchen facilities and remodeling of existing kitchen facilities
  • Oversee, help plan and approve menus and monitor district compliance and legislation pertaining to the National School Lunch & Breakfast Regulations
  • Responsible for determining personnel needs. Assist with interviews and departmental onboarding for all staff. Train and supervise the performance of assigned personnel.
  • Directs and ensures marketing initiatives
  • Develops, communicates, and executes all strategic innovative planning initiatives.
  • Review and analyze financial data, ensuring fiscal compliance and/or recommendations for modifications.
