Director of Nursing, Long Term Care


The Director of Nursing is responsible for the overall clinical operation of hospital based Long Term Care. Includes planning, organizing and directing resident care services to ensure high quality of care, excellent customer service and efficient operations.


The Director provides leadership to assure compliance with local, state and federal regulations, and nursing practice standards. The Director is responsible for the development of departmental policies, procedures, goals and objectives. The Director is responsible for providing effective staff management, which includes hiring, development, training, and performance feedback that assures utilization of personnel to best meet the needs of consumers and the Hospital. The Director must have a philosophy that is consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organization. The Director must have the ability to work with patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers, must have excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and be detail oriented, must have excellent knowledge of and commitment to, the principles and practices of continuous quality improvement, and must be self motivated and able to work independently and as a team member in a fast paced environment. This position reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer.


Qualifications


The position requires RN licensure in good standing for the State of Michigan. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; bachelor's degree preferred. 3-5 years clinical nursing experience in an acute care or long term care facility. 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory or administrative position is preferred. Salary commensurate with experience.
