Job Summary:
Under the administrative supervision of the Head of School and in collaboration with the Director of Elementary School, the Director of Middle School & High School at GIS is responsible for curriculum development, staff management, student support, parent and community engagement, and ensuring the overall academic success and well-being of grade 5-12 students.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Administration:
● Develop and implement a comprehensive educational vision and strategic plan for the Middle and High School division.
● Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that promotes academic excellence, character development, and Islamic values.
● Lead and supervise the Middle and High School faculty and staff, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
● Promote a collaborative environment by organizing and overseeing grade-level and subject meetings
● Collaborate with other school administrators and stakeholders to promote the overall success and growth of the institution.
● Demonstrate Islamic ethos and principles of dealing with colleagues
Academic Excellence:
● Ensure the development and implementation of a rigorous and engaging curriculum that meets the academic standards and supports the intellectual and spiritual growth of students.
● Promote innovative teaching methodologies, instructional technology integration, and differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
● Visit classrooms and meet with teachers regularly to promote professional development and ensure teachers implement effective assessment strategies.
● Monitor student performance and progress on Infinite Campus (student information system)
● Foster a culture of continuous improvement through data analysis, curriculum evaluation, and the
implementation of evidence-based instructional practices.
● Provide academic counseling for students; have a working knowledge of dual enrollment
Student Development and Support:
● Create a safe and nurturing learning environment that supports the social, emotional, and spiritual development of students.
● Accompanying students to the masjid, ensuring students are focused and mindful
● Build rapport with students by being present during recess and lunch and attending off-site
events/activities; attending field trips and overnights occasionally
● Arrange periodic meetings with students to solicit feedback and overall well-being
● Establish and enforce behavioral expectations, disciplinary policies, and procedures that maintain
a positive school climate.
● Manage and follow up with student disciplinary issues.
● Collaborate with the school counselor to ensure students receive appropriate personal support
services.
● Encourage student involvement in extracurricular activities, clubs, and community service
opportunities.
Parent and Community Engagement:
● Foster strong relationships with parents, promoting open communication and involving them in their child's education.
● Contact parents about student' academic and behavioral status as needed
● Organize and lead parent education and awareness programs, like information and orientation
sessions to enhance their understanding of the school's educational programs and goals.
● Act as a spokesperson for the Middle and High School division, representing the school in the community and fostering positive relationships with external stakeholders.
