We're seeking a Director of Materials to provide leadership and direction to our Planning, Procurement, Warehouse functions, and Materials flow. This role will own inventory for our facility and create functional strategies, set objectives, and develop budgets, policies, procedures, and overall infrastructure to meet set goals and objectives. Additionally, the Director of materials will provide ongoing strategic direction to continuously improve customer service level and cost improvement.


In this role, you will drive customer responsiveness through collaboration with other departments to ensure the flow of information, materials, and capacity availability to meet and exceed customer expectations through the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process. You will lead demand planning, supply planning, and scheduling strategies to ensure customer demand and production capacity alignment. You will also be responsible for driving process standardization, documentation, and performance measurements, including transferring best practices between facilities.


You bring experience leading teams and developing talent and a strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies. You will also need to be able to work collaboratively across departments and functions to achieve common goals.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Establish processes that align NPD, planning, sourcing, and operations to meet and exceed customer expectations
  • Drive process standardization, documentation, and performance measurements, including the transfer of best practices between facilities
  • Recruit, train, lead, evaluate, coach and develop, and retain direct and indirect labor associated with materials function
  • Develop a functional budget and capital expenditures for AOP planning purposes
  • Drive and maintain optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements
  • Develop and manage functional Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive performance and continuous improvement
  • Lead demand planning, supply planning, and scheduling strategies to ensure alignment of customer demand and production capacity
  • Participate and lead Kaizen continuous improvement projects as needed


You'll Bring:


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • APICS-CSCP, ISM-CPSM, CSCMP or similar certifications preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Strong knowledge of large/MRP systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and functions
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in supply chain management, with at least five years of experience in a leadership role
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines
