Director of Manufacturing
OVERVIEW:
As the Director of Manufacturing, you will have oversight of the company’s manufacturing activities, alternating between the office and the production area while leading strategic execution and coordinating resources to manufacture quality products on time and efficiently, while making sure that deadlines are met and standards are upheld.
Key Responsibilities:
· Formulate and supervise processes, quality and production improvement methodologies.
· Help determine the strategic direction of the company’s manufacturing unit, setting the plan for products, processes, with the goal of increasing efficiency and profitability.
· Direct production planning efforts to maintain service and inventory levels above a specified threshold.
· Interact with teams that handle engineering, quality control, production planning and production in order to ensure the smooth execution of projects related to outsourcing and new product development.
· Maintain manufacturing budgets to ensure operations remain profitable.
· Assist in efforts to improve equipment uptime and increase utilization.
· Analyze current operation status and provide expedite requests dates.
· Responsible to document / maintain production goals and KPI’s.
· Assist in continuous improvement projects with designated employees. Initiate and propose CI projects within the scope of the department, help drive these through completion.
· Create, maintain, and communicate departmental KPI’s and update regularly and upon request.
· Coach and mentor staff as appropriate.
· Actively design and participate in cross training activities.
· May participate in various safety related activities, and always act as a safety role model.
· Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts.
Education, Experience and Skills:
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related degree preferred.
· 5+ years of progressive operations leadership experience.
· Demonstrated knowledge in production and manufacturing process and techniques.
· Demonstrated knowledge of process improvement techniques.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
· Excellent attention to detail.
· Proven ability to function in a self-directed environment.
