Job Description

The Director of Innovation & Supply Chain Optimization:

  • Proactively and independently learns and utilizes new technology, concepts, and procedures as appropriate to project requirements. Maintains current knowledge of industry technology trends.
  • Partner with Data & Advance Analytics team to develop strategy for driving innovation through automation and data commercialization across McKesson’s Medical Surgical (MMS) -Supply Chain organization.
  • Leads the development of Data architecture and governance rules and participates in MMS data governance.
  • Develops and implements the continuous improvement strategy for the MMS Supply Chain Organization.
  • Measures the ROI and softer benefits from analytics and continuous improvement actions.
  • Performs end-to-end operations optimization and will identify and lead the team through both internal and external strategic opportunities.
  • Leads the team responsible for supporting major capital projects such as distribution center openings, expansions, and closures.


Key Responsibilities

  • Identifies and assesses strategic business opportunities that improve operations effectiveness and provides relevant business analysis. Develops and maintains benchmarking/comparable analyses for decision-making.
  • Identifies, assesses, and executes monetization opportunities.
  • Ensures timely & successful delivery of automation solutions.
  • Portfolio Administration – Define portfolio intake and lifecycle framework. Ensure status is up to date and initiatives are well defined and easy to track. Establish and monitor portfolio metrics to ensure the team is delivering value to the organization and customers.
  • Leads and facilitates process improvement activities and develops decision-making frameworks and change management strategies to implement process improvements.
  • Develops the innovation strategy for MMS Supply Chain Management (automation and commercialization)
  • Establishes and leads team to conduct rapid assessments of business processes, supply chain performance, conduct benchmarking, and drive re-architecting, as applicable.
  • Drives end-to-end supply chain capability improvement programs.
  • Alignment – Ensure all initiatives are aligned with strategic needs of the business and that all stakeholders are aware of the status of their projects. Ensure all projects follow processes that align to the lifecycle framework.
  • Leads the facilitation of performance management and risk management activities for the MMS Supply Chain Team and ensures effective cascade throughout the organization.
  • Formulates strategies into well-articulated transformation initiatives, tangible benefits, and scalable business outcomes and leads the implementation of these initiatives.
  • Drives and supports project planning including developing all communication plans, both internal and external. Communicates key information to stakeholders with respect to project schedule, budget, and KPI achievement.
  • Process – Develop and manage the automation portfolio roadmap in line with business strategy, user needs, and market trends.
  • Stays informed about competitors and relevant peer companies' strategies and approaches and is very well-versed in the medical products industry’s dynamics and challenges.


Professional Experience and Qualifications

  • Strong leadership skills with extensive experience managing and motivating employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to build high-trust relationships with key stakeholders and ability to communicate with and influence senior-level executives.
  • Exceptional communication skills- written, verbal, presentation, and meeting facilitation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to navigate the organization, and identify, align, and integrate cross-functional resources into cohesive teams in a highly matrixed environment when required.
  • Six Sigma (Green/Blackbelt or equivalent) preferred
  • Master’s degree (MBA) preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Data Science, or Information Systems.
  • Strong analytical background to understand how to leverage data to influence business decisions.
  • Proven ability to identify innovative projects (optimize processes & value add) from ideation to deployment.
  • Over 13 years of experience in supply chain, operations, manufacturing, ERP, and digital / data technologies.
  • Proven track record managing projects ranging in size, complexity and impact; experience in all aspects of project management to ensure proper resource management/utilization, delivery against scheduled commitments, risk mitigation, issue management, and effective management of internal client expectations.
