Job Description

Minimum Qualifications: Associates Degree in Culinary, Nutrition or Institutional Management

  • School Food Service Experience with at least 2 years in a Supervisory capacity
  • Knowledge of USDA National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs
  • Knowledge of NY State Department of Health Sanitary Codes with Serve Safe and HACCP Certification

Oversee all aspects of WNY Maritime Charters Schools (High School and Middle School) Food Service Program.

  • Advertise and interview perspective cafeteria workers.

  • Train and work with employees to assure the best food production and service to students and staff.

  • Knowledge of Nutrikids POS system. Close registers daily and print reports.

  • File end of month State and Federal Reports (based on daily meal counts).

  • Submit Government Commodity requests on a monthly basis.

  • Compile Monthly P+L Statements. Submit delivery invoices and bills to accountants.

  • Plan menus based on nutritional guidelines, government commodity availability, seasonal fruits and vegetables, student likes and dislikes.
  • Make sure production records are completed on a daily basis to assist with food ordering.

  • Placing orders for: milk, bread, grocery items, paper goods etc.
Determine amount of food and supplies required and purchase same.
  • Verify time sheets and attendance records for staff, submit payroll bi-monthly.
  • Order products for vending machines and stock daily. Submit deposits weekly.
  • Assist staff as needed with food prep, service and cleanup.
  • Set up breakfast service (High School) and pull foods needed for the day service.
  • General cooking skills to include: Food Quality and Quality Control, familiarity with commercial cooking equipment operation.
  • Responsible for all shipments in the Food Service Department, including verifying accuracy of quantities and qualities delivered. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Operation and knowledge of Nutrikids POS and back office software, performing and of day cash out procedures.
  • Must have reliable attendance and perform any duties related to the Food Service Department

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
