Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Finance individual, preferably with non-profit experience to join our team to support the mission of Millhill in making a difference in the lives of Trenton residents and their families. The essential duties and responsibilities of the Director of Finance will include the following:


  • Recruits, hires, and conducts performance evaluations
  • Supervises security operations
  • Responsible for contract administration and reporting to funding sources
  • Prepares annual budgets
  • Attendance at Board of Trustee meetings and presentation of financial statements
  • Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit
  • Manages the accounting, payroll, IT staff and IT consultants, and facilities/security staff.
  • Provides financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • Supervises and/or carries out facilities operations, including bidding and contracting of facilities improvements
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
  • Manages the company’s financial accounts, payroll, budget, cash receipts, and financial assets
  • Responsible for maintaining corporate insurance policies
  • Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation
  • Prepares monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Evaluates information systems to maximize efficiencies
  • Produces program and department reports to Program Directors


Requirements


Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


  • Experience working in the non-profit industry
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office
  • Careful attention to details, deadlines, and follow-through
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Supervisory experience
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience with financial and information systems and the ability to communicate that knowledge


Education And/or Experience


  • Eight or more years of related experience; non-profit experience preferred
  • Supervisory experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
