Job Description

The successful candidate will exhibit a high level of professionalism and adaptability to changing business priorities and will be responsible for all areas relating to Accounting, Finance, and Contracts. As part of a small business, the Executive Director of Business Services must have a hands-on approach and be able to perform multiple tasks concurrently and efficiently. Completion of timely and accurate work is critical. Minimum of 15+ years’ experience required. This position requires reliance on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals as well as a familiarity with a variety of the field concepts, practices, and procedures.



Essential Duties:

  • Monitor organizational and entity adherence to approved budgets.
  • Ensure all aspects of Finance, Accounting, and Contracts are operating efficiently and in compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Perform cash management and forecasting.
  • Liaise with auditors, bankers, regulators, and attorneys as needed.
  • Engage with leaders in the business to drive results and budget.
  • Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives.
  • Analyze, synthesize, and translate data into key strategic inputs and insights that will drive strategic decision making at the executive level.
  • Manage the monthly and quarterly forecasting and reporting processes.
  • Effectively ensure all departments are working towards the same goal, leveraging common finance services, and improving productivity.
  • Participate in operations reviews to ensure both short- and long-term budgets are on track.
  • Lead financial analysis for each initiative, summarize results in presentation format for communication, and provide insights to senior management including the CEO and COO.
  • Maintain an environment of strong business controls.
  • Develop and continuously communicate goals of the finance function and enforce a roles and responsibilities matrix throughout the function.
  • Assess ongoing market risks and opportunities and proactively develop action plans to minimize exposure and enhance opportunities.
  • Manage line of credit (LOC) and ensure compliance with bank covenants.
  • Lead pricing and strategic analysis regarding competitive positioning and go-to-market strategies.
  • Lead annual budget planning process in support of the long-term strategic plan. Work with CEO and COO throughout this process.
  • Attract, develop, and retain outstanding financial management talent.
  • Lead project and services analytics reviews.
  • Lead the long-term strategic process for business units to maximize profitable returns, long term growth, and market share penetration, all in alignment with company priorities.


Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Accounting or Finance, CPA required.
  • Ability to provide sound business judgment, strategic thinking, and broad financial and business perspective across the organization.
  • Ensure DCAA compliance and prepare and assist in audit process, if applicable.
  • Outstanding financial acumen blended with business partnership and leadership.
  • Ability to sort through complex issues then translate and communicate them in a clear, concise manner and then develop appropriate solutions in a timely and responsive manner.
  • Excellent understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Demonstrated track record of attention to detail, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to summarize key data into executive dashboards.
  • Experience creating performance metrics.
  • Working knowledge of various financial and payroll systems; Deltek Cost Point experience preferred.
  • Ability to identify, hire, and develop new talent.
  • Experience managing, growing, and developing back-office functions to include Finance, Accounting, and Contracts.
  • Understanding of the government acquisition guidance per Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) to ensure continued compliance with federal law.
  • Skilled in supporting the vision of our organization to ensure that all stakeholders share a consistent image of the organization’s future and are engaged in, and committed to, making the vision a reality.
  • 15+ years of related experience. Government contracting experience required.
