Job Title: Director, Experience Design

Client Location: Bethesda, MD; Hybrid on-site

Starting: June 2023

Salary/Pay Rate: $109.52 - 124.96, W2, Hourly

**Please note: This role will be on-site at our client's office 3- 5 days/week in Bethesda, MD. Must be in a commutable distance of Bethesda, MD to be considered for this role.**


Our Fortune 500 client is seeking 2 Directors of Experience Design to join their team. In this Consultant role, you will work with the Senior Director to ensure property design and brand-focused work tracks. This work ranges from near-term tactical to longer-term strategy with a keen focus on data-driven, best-in-class product design.


You will drive digital experiences that deliver on both elevating the expression of client property and brand portfolio and emotional engagement to support business outcomes. Partnering closely with fellow user experience leaders, product management, and technology colleagues to meet needs across our business, leisure, member, and non-member customers.


You will need to be able to produce designs as well as direct designers, including internal associates and contractors/agencies, driving the creative process from concept through execution.


A strong portfolio is critical. Your portfolio should showcase experience in UX and interaction design for digital solutions, highlighting conversion optimization efforts, simplicity, and ease of use.


What You Will Do:

  • Presents work with clarity and confidence; explains complex matters so that others can understand them
  • Ability to manage one or more direct reports
  • Clearly explain design decisions to leadership, your team, and stakeholders
  • Attract, hire, develop, and retain top talent
  • Develops relationships with members of other teams, and leverages those relationships to answer questions
  • Direct and approve user experience design execution
  • Provides accurate estimates as to needed time to complete work to feed project plans (and therefore personal deadlines)
  • Collaborate with a variety of user experience disciplines within the team (Information Architecture, Design System/Standards, User Research, Copywriting) to advance your work.
  • Identify future opportunities by keeping up to date with design trends, societal shifts, and new technology

  • Demonstrating and Applying Discipline Knowledge:
  • Works and leads independently with minimal supervision, but knows when issues should be escalated to the manager.

  • Accepts critique and critiques others' work in a helpful and professional manner
  • Successfully manages multiple tracks of work simultaneously
  • Thinks and works at both the strategic and execution levels; sees both the “forest” and the “trees” and guides teams accordingly


What You Will Bring:

Must have:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in digital product design with demonstrated leadership experience, a strong grounding in general usability and transactional design best practices
  • Experience with large-scale websites or global digital apps/digital products
  • Experience leading design in visual identity and branding in a digital space


Also seeking:

  • Thrives working in a collaborative and cross-functional environment
  • 4-year undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Agile / SAFE development methodologies
  • Experience delivering concepts, user journeys, prototypes, etc., across platforms (desktop, mobile web, app, etc.) with inclusivity in mind.


Ideal candidates bring:

  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, including facilitation, presentation, storytelling
  • Experience with major, large-scale global digital apps, websites, or other digital products within the commerce or travel space

Other Requirements: The target hiring compensation range for this role is the equivalent of $109.52 - $124.96, W2, hourly. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location. Additional benefits offered may include medical health insurance and dental insurance, life insurance, and eligibility to participate in a 401k plan with a company match.
