Job Description
Job Summary


Specialty Chemical manufacturer seeks to hire a hands-on Corporate Director of Engineering who will manage and direct a team of engineers supporting a multi-site organization toward its primary objectives, based on longterm product and profitability goals. Experience presenting to executive leadership required. Experience with Capex, mergers, joint ventures, acquisition of businesses, or sales of major assets is desired.


  • Responsible for 6 plants in MA, NC, IL and TX. Targeting candidates within 3 hours of Charlotte, NC, Boston, MA or Pittsburgh, PA.
  • REMOTE position with ~40% travel.


Requirements


  • Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Track record of leading multiple capital project simultaneouly in a dynamic work environment.
  • Engineering Degree required
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport and foster an ownership culture with plant operations, engineering and maintenance teams.
  • Master's degree (M.A.) in engineering or business preferred
  • Experience pertaining to the engineering aspects of mergers, JVs and acquisitions.
  • Experience creating capital budgets, allocating resources, and determining schedule of process and equipment releases and project deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel to 40% due to support 6 divisions.
  • Cradle to grave project management experience.
  • Demostrated experience communicating effectively with all levels of an organization, including, executive leadership.

Responsibilities


  • Dispenses advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to carry out major plans procedures, consistent with established policies
  • Creates capital budgets, allocates resources, and determines schedule of process and equipment releases or project deadlines
  • Establishes current and long-range Engineering objectives
  • Plans and directs all investigations and negotiations pertaining to engineering aspects of mergers, joint ventures, acquisition of businesses, or sales of major assets.
  • Works with product development, sales, and marketing to discern competitiveness of new technologies
  • Creates a technical vision for the company and plans for implementation of new engineering projects.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective system of communications throughout the organization.
