WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

Connecticut’s Director of Development (DoD) is a development leader with multiple responsibilities, both in CT locally and TNC globally. In CT, they lead a 5-8-member team of entrepreneurial, collaborative and creative professionals to build long-term relationships with high-net-worth prospects and raise substantial private financial support for local, regional, and international conservation priorities. The DoD must be results-oriented, inspiring, compassionate and dedicated to team career development, and able work collaboratively with diverse local and global colleagues, donors, and volunteers across a dispersed and complex global organization. Locally, the DoD is responsible for CT’s dynamic portfolio of high-net-worth prospects, including potential Board candidates and, leading by example will be accountable for managing approximately 10-20 principal gift prospects and prospective Board candidates who are passionate about TNC’s mission and who will make 7-8+-figure outright, planned and in-kind gifts. The DoD also is part of TNC’s global Principal Gifts Network and works closely with that team’s colleague who focuses on ultra-high-net-worth prospects in the Global Wealth Market of Greenwich and Fairfield County. Other responsibilities include sitting on the Chapter’s leadership team, collaborating closely with the Chapter’s Conservation, Finance and Operations, and Marketing Teams, and overseeing the Philanthropy Team’s events, prospect research and multi-year campaigns.

Also in CT, the DoD shares leadership responsibility for building and engaging the Board of Trustees and, with the State Director, staffs the Advancement and the Nominating and Board Governance Committees of the Board. They are responsible for building a culture of philanthropy within the chapter and encourages all staff and volunteers to see themselves in the “everyone is a fundraiser” context. The DoD is accountable for fundraising goals of a minimum of $3 million to $6 million a year, with unrestricted funding a primary focus and local and global priorities an equally important focus. They report to the State Director.
Throughout TNC, the DoD works collaboratively with other fundraising teams, including other state chapters, divisional and regional teams, the Principal Gifts Network and the Global Wealth Market Teams, to maximize fundraising potential of shared donors.
