The Opportunity
The Director of Content will lead the development and execution of Ally’s content strategy. You will be responsible for overseeing a team of editors, writers and agency partners committed to creating compelling articles, newsletters, videos and podcasts that engage, inform and path consumers to relevant solutions and products. You will maintain the editorial calendar and work closely with internal partners to ensure distribution across myriad channels. The ideal candidate will be able to influence key stakeholders and constantly be looking at ways to innovate and deliver best-in-class content to consumers while meeting business objectives.
The Work Itself
  • Manage a team of writers and editors, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality content is produced and delivered on time
  • Collaborate with external partners, including agencies and freelancers, to produce content that meets our brand standards and aligns with our goals
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, including PR, CRM and social media to ensure content is integrated across channels
  • Help manage the content budget, including resource allocation, vendor relationships and forecasting
  • Maintain the style guide and ensure that all content aligns with our brand voice, style and messaging
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices, and continuously optimize our content strategy to ensure we are constantly innovating
  • Work with legal, brand and compliance teams to ensure alignment and maintain regular review process
  • Oversee implementation of thought leadership within content to help humanize the Ally brand, drive credibility and increase financial literacy
  • Curate content to regularly refresh webpages, newsletters and other consumer touchpoints to deliver personalized, relevant experiences
  • Lead quarterly content planning, ideation and prioritization sessions with cross-functional teams to develop a comprehensive content calendar
  • Conduct regular analysis of content performance and make data-driven recommendations for improvement
  • Develop and implement the overall content strategy for Conversationally, Ally’s content hub, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives
The Skills You Bring
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data to make informed decisions and recommendations
  • Experience with content management systems and analytics tools
  • 7+ years of professional experience in a newsroom or corporate content environment
  • Knowledge of financial services business a plus
  • Working knowledge of AP Style and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively, build strong relationships and influence executive-level partners
  • Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills, with a deep understanding of content strategy and execution
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, business, communications, PR or marketing
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Works well under pressure and is able to meet tight deadlines
