About Our Client
My client is a 4th generation family owned business with a variety of divisions servicing a variety of sectors such as, Energy, Water, Waste-water, Commercial, Industrial, and Institutional. They pride themselves on having the best employees in the business and many of whom have been with the company for 30, 40 and even 50 years! They have a high emphasis on company culture and work life balance and are looking to bring on an experienced Director of Construction to lead their building division.

Director of Construction responsibilities include:
  • Additional duties as assigned
  • Train and hire staff when necessary
  • Feasibility and site construction due diligence
  • Oversee the division producing $20M worth of work annually
  • Be a leader for all construction activities for the company
  • Attend networking and bid events
  • Collaborate closely with the COO
  • Conduct reviews and performance evaluations with staff annually
  • Oversee the PX & project management staff
  • Plan, staff, and manage projects alongside the Project Executive and Project Managers
  • Design, implement and manage best construction practices
  • Evaluate development opportunities

The Successful Applicant
The successful Director of Construction will have:
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management
  • Background in ground up and TI construction: Commercial, Warehouses, industrial etc.
  • 10-15 yrs of experience in project management. Have overseen a team or mentored office staff.
  • Leadership abilities but also able to wear many hats.
  • Passionate about growing the business and their role - this person will be in a senior leadership role. Will be involved with hiring and coaching/mentoring their office staff.
  • Great attitude; will be required to jump in and help where necessary but will have a lot of support.
  • Previous experience working within a general contractor.
  • Familiarity with precon and design build
  • Well rounded project management experience that can assist green PM's in succeeding in the business.
