Job Description

Position summary: With executive management input and approval, development and implementation of marketing strategies, plans and goals, general as well as specific by channel (industrial, hardware, commercial, consumer specialty, international), by product line, by key customers. Above to be consistent with company near and long term goals for growth, profitability, and worldwide recognition of and respect for Morse name as representative of excellence in all endeavors.


Job Duties:

  • Work closely with sales department to align sales and marketing strategies, and develop successful strategies and campaigns that attract new customers and keep current customers.
  • Management of internal and external personnel in areas of responsibility.
  • Responsible for pricing, marketing and marketing administration.
  • Corporate communications including:
  1. Advertising and public relations
  2. Packaging, merchandising and marketing of products
  3. Sales literature, bulletins, price lists
  4. New product launches
  5. External correspondence
  6. Programs for furthering the company image and message
  7. Adherence to consistency of message, image and presentation
  8. Trade shows
  • Direct and support market research collection, analysis, and interpretation of market data for short and long-term market forecasts and reports, including:

1. Market potential (channels, product lines) including:

· Market size and maturity

· Obstacles to entry/growth

· Competitive positions

· Emerging opportunities

2. Competitor policies, operations, activities, strengths and weaknesses

3. Competitor product lines – quality, breadth, strengths and weaknesses

4. Trends for our product lines, as well as lines for which our products are accessories

5. Any market trends that may pose opportunities or threats, e.g. laser technology, emergence of new

materials.

6. Manage the new products/services/markets portfolio and provide direction on new product priorities

throughout the organization. These are the new products/services/markets that are aimed at

supporting the Company objectives.

7. Competitor pricing/discounting strategies, including:

· Approach, e.g. discounting based on order dollar volume vs. based on term-specific dollar, volume commitment, etc.

· Price and discount levels – published and “real world”

· “Extras” policy (i.e., rebates, allowances, freight prepayment, etc.)

8. Establishment of contacts and sources of ongoing input.

9. Organization of information for effective availability, including published materials.

10. Market data to be communicated as appropriate to top management along with recommendations,

field reps including responses to information requests, inside sales and sales support personnel and

engineering.

  • Become the organization’s agent towards external parties such as media, stakeholders and potential clients and build strategic partnerships.
  • Development of systems to support and monitor marketing and sales activities. Where automation of systems is appropriate, system definition (including costs) and implementation coordination with IT personnel.
  • Vigilance in setting price and discount levels reflective of Morse’s unmatched quality, delivery, flexibility and service, to enhance the Morse image and product profitability. Development of programs that promote Morse strengths and educate personnel as to why and how to not sell based on price.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Cost control via prudent decision-making and management. Establishment of and conformance to budget, with top management input.
  • Create and maintain a successful brand and image that attracts customers to the product or service. Development of Morse brand recognition and respect, including effectively, continually and consistently disseminating the company message and image (Morse is world leader in quality, delivery, flexibility and service: the customer is #1).
  • Build long-term relationships with employees, customers and stakeholders.
  • Development of strategy, plans and goals to bring focus to increasing net new accounts on an ongoing basis.


Qualifications:

  • Preferred residence within 2-hour drive from Canton, OH facility
  • Approximately 25% travel
  • Strong leadership, including leadership by example
  • 10-15 years of marketing management experience in the following channels; industrial, commercial and hardware/consumer.
  • Bachelors degree or higher level college degree required.
