Summary:

  • Drives the long-range strategic planning process for operations by overseeing and managing all manufacturing operations, including manufacturing itself, production control, inventory control.
  • Develops operations-related plans, capacity, budgets, infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
  • Drives adoption of new process or products into manufacturing and product readiness for commercial launch.
  • Champions improvements in overall cost of goods.
  • Responsible for ensuring full compliance to all applicable requirements and specifications imposed by the company, the customer and/or the industry while seeking creative cost effective solutions; challenging the status quo and evolving the culture within manufacturing departments.
  • Maintains quality, safety and regulatory compliance relating to the production facility.
  • Defines goals, improves technologies, and resolves problems in conjunction with managers of manufacturing, quality assurance, engineering, supply chain, customer service and sales.
  • Translates customer requirements into state-of-the-art manufacturing strategies and processes, resulting in cost-effective processing and profitable manufacturing of company products.
  • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
  • Responsible for manufactured products life cycle management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategy / Planning:

  • Make sound decisions to prevent serious impacts on the overall success of manufacturing operations.
  • Works on abstract problems across functional areas of the business.
  • Identifies and evaluates fundamental issues for major functional areas through assessment of intangible variables.
  • Drive strategy and business direction within area of expertise.
  • Set goals, establishes priorities, manage resources, develop concept and approaches, review projects progress and results; make management decisions.
  • Responsible for ensuring that department is committed to and conforms to the company quality system procedures as documented.

People / Collaboration:

  • Supervise subordinate personnel including: hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, coaching, initiating corrective or disciplinary actions, and establishing and sustaining long-term human resources and skill requirements for the manufacturing teams.
  • Manage manufacturing operational issues by acting as the primary liaison with other members of management, engineering, supply chain, clinical and regulatory, quality assurance, quality control, sales and marketing.
  • Develop leadership in others - focused upon personal and collective accountability while fostering an environment that enhances personal growth and career development through mentoring and training; performance management, and challenging the organization to strive for higher performance levels.
  • Act as a key member of the senior management team, foster a proactive approach, and recommend and implement solutions to company issues to drive performance enabling the company to meet and exceed its short-term and long-term objectives.
  • Develop a strong relationship and shared vision with business leaders establishing a common vision, to create and deliver competitive strength to the organization; specific focus in leveraging strength and teamwork across organizations.

Operations / Manufacturing Process:

  • Establish overall direction while creating and implementing a vision for continual improvement of operational services at a detail level as well as higher organizational level; work with others to establish methodologies to resolve process issues.
  • Increase the overall productivity of the manufacturing operations organization as evidenced by lower cost, higher quality solutions provided on time.
  • Build a reputation for the manufacturing organization of high integrity, competitive and proactive leadership, and sustained performance by delivering quality product on a timely basis.
  • Manage all aspects of operations cycle within operational budgets and functional goals of the facility.
  • Develop and manage clear and effective performance metrics for the manufacturing organization as a whole, as well as individuals, measuring the effectiveness; use metric trends and data to drive the business and decisions therein.
  • Ensure all manufacturing operations projects, initiatives, and processes conform to all applicable requirements and specifications imposed by the company, the customer and/or the industry.
  • Drive new thoughts in approach, process and methodology while respecting the work and processes of the past.
  • Directly responsible for implementation and maintenance of manufacturing department procedures. Report on the performance of manufacturing operations. Plan and maintain departmental budget for the effective operation of the department.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ideally have Operations and/or Quality experience
  • Ideally have medical device/pharmaceutical experience.

Exempt Salary Details:

The annual base salary range for this role is $149,000 to $248,300. Final compensation package will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, business needs and market demand.

Experience and Education

  • 9+ years of successful management experience in relevant industry.
  • Typically requires a Bachelors degree with 15+ years of industry experience.
