Job Description

Hua Nani Partners (HNP) is seeking a full-time Director to join our team. The position will be focused on leading client-based climate and energy projects, with a particular focus on subnational climate policy and implementation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a major project assisting subnational jurisdictions as they prepare for and implement federal funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act. This is a new position that will work directly with project partners and HNP leadership. This is a fully remote position with a desire to have candidates based in one of the following states: California, Massachusetts, Illinois, Virginia, or Hawaiʻi. Some travel will be required for this position and we will consider applications on a full-time salaried basis. At this time, we require applicants to have authorization to work in the United States.

Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead and manage key client relationships, ensuring high-quality project delivery, client satisfaction, and adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Identify process improvements to streamline project operations and work with HNP leadership to define strategic project growth opportunities.
  • Project manage and contribute to a major subnational climate initiative, including collaborating with team members, tracking deliverables and deadlines, developing new service offerings, and managing concurrent workflows.
  • Build strong relationships with subnational partners to maintain an accurate understanding of policy implementation challenges and emerging support needs.
  • Support senior leadership team in further developing HNP’s thought leadership, services, and business development opportunities.
  • Develop and improve specialized skills and knowledge linked to the topics and services offered by HNP.


QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Resourceful with creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex and high-growth projects.
  • A graduate degree in public policy, environmental planning, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical capabilities, including the ability to communicate complex issues concisely.
  • Highly collaborative, proactive, and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Google Suite applications.
  • Practical experience in climate or energy policy implementation at the state or local level is strongly preferred.
  • Self-starter who is comfortable making decisions independently and managing workflows in a remote environment.
  • Strong interest in the importance of ambitious climate action by subnational jurisdictions, including states and cities.
  • Passion for solving climate change and commitment to climate and racial justice.
  • Experience working in coalitions and managing relationships with stakeholders from different perspectives.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, and growing start-up environment.
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience in climate and/or energy policy at a consulting firm, government agency, or other mission-focused organization.
  • Demonstrated experience developing strategies to achieve policy or program objectives in complex multi-stakeholder environments, including crafting persuasive written documents such as op-eds, policy briefs, and white papers.
