Director, Global Sourcing & New Product Development

Summary:

Our award-winning client is seeking a Director, Global Strategic Sourcing who oversees strategic planning and execution of all external product spend and develops a global sourcing strategy – including launch into new regions/countries.

They are seeking someone who has a strong background in:

• Looking for someone with hands-on experience working with industry best-practices.
• Managing a company-wide Category Management Process with significant spends in “best-cost” regions (>300M min, will be responsible for ~$800M and growing).
• Driving YoY total cost of ownership savings and supplier performance improvement.
• New Product Development – working closely with Product Managers, Engineers and Manufacturing Operations.
• Supporting multiple business units in a high SKU count environment.

Responsibilities:

• Willingness to travel 25% - 50%.
• Monitor product line demand trends and new product development funnels to determine long-term supply base capacities and capabilities.
• Partners with Engineering, Program Management, Supplier Quality and Supply Chain Teams to ensure suppliers are meeting program milestones, delivering material on-time, fulfilling quality requirements, and following proper change management procedure to maintain OTD and cost management.
• Identify and monitor potential supply risks and proactively develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
• Lead Strategic Sourcing Managers in the creation Regional, Supplier and Category Strategies that defines the “Future State” supply base that will optimally support objectives for innovation, speed-to-market, quality and total cost of ownership.

Required Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience sourcing from best-cost regions such as Thailand, Turkey, India, Vietnam, Malaysia, etc.
• 10+ years of experience with high volume Global Strategic Sourcing.
• Driving YoY total cost of ownership savings and supplier performance improvement for assigned categories/suppliers.
• Managing the Category Mgt/Strategic Sourcing Process for assigned spend categories such as plastics, steel forgings, electronic assemblies. (Could also be listed by product lines such as chassis, body, engine etc.)
• Strong new product development skills in a Global Strategic Sourcing environment.
• Automotive experience (OEM or aftermarket) is highly desired, but if the parts sourced seem similar in construction (machined metal parts, plastic parts, electronics, small appliances, etc.) OK.
