About the Position
We are seeking a smart, hard-working Commercial Property Claims Director looking for a unique opportunity to handle and manage large commercial property claims for a rapidly growing organization. As a key member of our team, you will work cross-functionally overseeing claims for our Specialty Programs division handled by an external third-party administrator as well as handling claims internally for our Municipal Joint Insurance Fund. We are looking for an individual that prioritizes customer-focused solutions for our clients while maintaining the fiduciary relationships that have been built with our carriers.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the commercial industry, as well as the necessary certifications to handle large commercial property claims to include Building, Contents, Inland Marine and Business Income losses. This position does involve a modest amount of travel on-site to catastrophic property losses to coordinate and manage the claim process and communicate face-to-face with our vendors and customers.
What Youll Do:
Investigate, analyze, and directly handle a case load of municipal first-party property claims.
Conduct a detailed review of the policy and analyze the applicability of policy language and endorsements based on the facts of the claim.
Draft and prepare detailed coverage letters.
Target the identification of subrogation opportunities and provide input to recovery efforts.
Review independent adjuster reports for accuracy.
Provide oversight of large property claims being handled by external TPAs.
Promptly communicate with insureds, claimants, retail agents, general agents, independent adjusters, and attorneys as necessary
Manage external vendors.
Prepare proposed expense and loss reserve/settlement reports that exceed authority for submission senior management and carrier partners.
Organize and drive CAT responses with the ability to travel on-site as necessary. What Were Looking For:
Bachelor's degree preferred or commensurate experience.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in adjusting commercial property claims
Experience managing property claims involving greenhouses, nurseries, retail garden centers, hydroponic farms, and related heavy equipment.
Experience handling property claims involving municipal buildings and emergency equipment.
Home state license required. Additional state licenses preferred.
Familiarity with MSB or Xactimate software
Requisite certifications, such as AIC, CPCU, or SCLA
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Competency in using MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook
Ability to travel to the East and West coast as needed What You'll Receive
