Job Description
Applicants may be asked to demonstrate any or all of the following duties:

1. Provides College-wide administrative leadership, supervision, and coordination for the women’s and men’s intercollegiate athletic programs that adheres to the highest standards of integrity in academic, financial, athletic, and compliance matters.

2. Provides leadership to ensure Department of Athletics has a highly competent and diverse coaching and support staff. Provides supervision, serves as a mentor, and evaluates intercollegiate athletic coaches and department staff.

3. Develops and monitors departmental budgets and works in collaboration with Foundation, Athletic Teams, and Financial Aid.

4. Responsible for all athletic fundraising. This includes but is not limited to the organization of camps and/or summer camps, fundraising events, sponsorships, and athletic facility rentals.

5. Provides proactive leadership in collaboration with the Foundation of State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota, Inc., and College officials, in the establishment of specific annual fundraising and revenue development benchmarks that will be achieved by the Department of Athletics

6. Develops, implements, and enforces departmental policies and procedures ensuring consistency and compliance with conference, Florida College System Activities Association, the National Junior College Athletic Association rules and requirements, and with Title IX and the Florida Educational NOTE: Job descriptions and essential functions are subject to change due to advances in technology, utilization of work force, and other factors which may impact the College’s need to modify position requirements. 7. Promotes community relations and attendance through contact with civic groups (i.e. Chamber of Commerce, service organizations, etc.), alumni and media. Oversees the dissemination of sports information and development of publications including electronic medium. Serves as Athletic Department’s official spokesperson on matters of policy, news releases and public relations in collaboration with Communications & Marketing.

8. Determines team player eligibility and approves all scholarship offers.

9. Provides an environment which promotes strong academic values and provides academic resources to promote academic success.

10. Develops, updates, and enforces policies, procedures, and programming, to ensure the reasonable supervision, safety, and security of all residents of college sanctioned off-campus housing.

11. Coordinates the acquisition of all college sanctioned off-campus housing contracts, including furnishing of said housing units, behavior, and move in and move out.

12. Supervises and provides oversight for the College’s Substance Abuse Education and Testing Program. Provides leadership in the disciplinary action of non-compliant student-athletes.

13. Recommends the acquisition and supervises the maintenance of all athletic department equipment; develops safety policies and procedures where applicable.

14. Coordinates all transportation contracts and provides oversight of travel arrangements/itineraries for the intercollegiate athletic teams.

15. Directs and monitors arrangements for space, facilities, and personnel coverage for all athletic events including practice, games, tournaments, and camps.

16. Work in collaboration with Business Services regarding facility use, rental requests, and community organization questions.

17. Collaborates with appropriate College personnel to ensure capital improvements and maintenance of all facilities utilized to support the intercollegiate athletic programs.

18. Coordinates and provides oversight to all liaison activities/functions between the Athletic department and faculty, administration, the Intercollegiate Athletic Committee, and the Student Activity Budget Review (SABR) Committee.

19. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education/Experience:
Master’s degree from an accredited university and five or more years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Supervisory Experience:
More than two years of direct supervisory experience, including formal training in supervision, is required for this position.
