Job Description


The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a Direct Support Area Office Supervisor to join the team at the Glenwood Resource Center (GRC). This is a full-time position with opportunity for growth and development.


Please note that GRC employees are eligible for a $1,500 retention payment for a commitment of 7 pay periods (14 weeks) and are eligible for renewal at the end of each 7 pay periods until the facility closes. Speak to the hiring manager for more information on eligibility.


The Direct Support Area Office Supervisor manages staff scheduling, ensuring adequate staff are on shift to meet the minimum health, safety and active treatment needs of those in care. This includes managing scheduling of extra hours and staff call-ins, appropriate and timely documenting and reporting to house supervisor for attendance review purposes.


This position completes rounds at houses, vocational sites and recreation areas, monitoring to ensure that treatment plans are implemented appropriately. The Office Supervisor provides training, as needed, and reports all concerns to the house supervisor. The Office Supervisor responds to critical incidents, providing leadership and support to the area, completes and reviews Incident Reports as needed and reports incidents per policy, regulation and statute. This position will also work as direct support staff to provide minimum, necessary coverage for other team members as needed.


The Direct Support Area Supervisor confers with the Treatment Program Administrator (TPA), recommending needed changes to minimum staffing numbers, staff placements, schedule rotations, support needs and/or other concerns within the area. This position is expected to anticipate and report potential upcoming scheduling/staffing concerns and immediately report to the TPA any concerns that are unable to be resolved or otherwise warrant awareness.

Minimum Qualification Requirements


Experience equal to two years of full-time work as a nursing or therapeutic assistant in a health care facility or other facility for the intellectually disabled, mentally ill, elderly, physically ill or disabled;


OR


an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one year of post high school education (thirty semester or equivalent hours) with an emphasis in nursing and/or the social or behavioral sciences for one year of experience to a maximum substitute of one year.
