Digital Media Editor


Position Overview:

VOX ATL is seeking a skilled and creative Digital Media Editor to join our team. As a Media Editor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the content produced by our teen writers, photographers, and videographers. You will be responsible for reviewing and editing multimedia pieces to ensure they align with VOX ATL's editorial standards and vision. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to amplifying the voices of Atlanta's youth and making a positive impact on our community.


Compensation: $16/hour

Schedule: 20 hours per week; Tuesday - Saturday

Location: Hybrid


Responsibilities:

1. Editing and Proofreading: Review, edit, and produce multimedia content, including articles, photographs, and videos, for grammar, style, clarity, and accuracy. Ensure that content meets VOX ATL's editorial guidelines and publishing standards.


2. Collaborative Feedback: Provide constructive feedback to teen content creators, helping them improve their storytelling skills and develop their unique voices. Offer guidance and support throughout the editing process, ensuring that the original intent and message of each piece are preserved.


3. Content Coordination: Work closely with the publishing team to plan, assign, and coordinate content production. Assist in developing editorial calendars, managing deadlines, and maintaining an organized workflow to ensure timely publication of multimedia content.


4. Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough fact-checking and verification of information presented in multimedia pieces. Verify sources, statistics, and other relevant details to maintain the highest level of accuracy and credibility.


5. Style and Branding: Ensure all multimedia content adheres to VOX ATL's style guide and brand guidelines. Maintain consistency in formatting, and visual presentation across different media platforms.


Qualifications:

- Strong editing and proofreading skills, with a keen eye for detail and grammar.

- Excellent written and verbal communication.

- Familiarity with multimedia storytelling techniques and an understanding of the digital media landscape.

- Proficiency in using editing software and tools, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva to enhance multimedia content.

- Passion for youth advocacy and amplifying diverse voices.

- Ability to provide constructive feedback and guidance to young content creators.

- Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

- Familiarity with AP Style and experience with content management systems are a plus.
