Position Description: SUMMARY OF JOB
The Digital Content Coordinator works to increase web traffic, email lead generation, and social media engagement by crafting compelling digital communications. The position is responsible for promoting Garden exhibitions, special events, membership, and program opportunities via social media, email, digital advertising, media outreach, and the website. This position also supports the graphic design needs of the organization.
The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of audiences. Graphic design experience is required. The position will require organizational and time-management skills in order to consistently meet multiple overlapping deadlines. This position reports to the Marketing Manager.
TASKS/FUNCTIONS
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Website
Publish, edit, and update website pages.
Ensure website content and online postings are accurate and consistent with quality standards in formatting, grammar, visual identity, and brand voice.
Support the execution of sponsored content placements across our web properties.
Troubleshoot website technical problems and coordinate with developers/hosting providers to resolve operational issues. Social Media
Write and schedule innovative and engaging social media posts and oversee the Gardens presence on all social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, and LinkedIn).
Select and supply engaging photography and video content.
Craft and maintain the social media content calendar with special focus on expanding audience engagement and increasing following.
Respond to comments and messages, share content from key users and partners, and engage with influencers.
Stay informed on emerging online communications tools, social media trends, and best practices.
Evaluate current efforts and advise when new strategies and platforms should be explored.
Email Marketing
Coordinate, edit, build, and distribute email campaigns to support programs and initiatives including campaigns, membership communications, automated/triggered messages, and event and exhibition promotions.
Create and implement lead generation strategies to increase our subscriber base.
Support routine maintenance and cleanup of email lists.
Reporting
Track and provide weekly and monthly roundup reports and analytics on all platforms including the website, social media, and email. Graphic Design
Design email and website headers and images.
Create visually appealing email layouts.
Develop brand-appropriate images and videos for social media.
Identify and select high-quality, compositionally interesting photographs for digital use.
Understand basic design principles like color, typography, alignment, spacing and hierarchy. QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a similar marketing or communications role, required.
Bachelors degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field, preferred.
Graphic design experience with minimum 1-2 years using Canva and/or Adobe Creative Cloud Design programs, preferred.
Must work flexible working hours with minimal evening duty, required.
Bilingual or multilingual, preferred.
Photography experience, preferred.
Hands-on experience using major social media platforms in a professional setting.
Experience using website content management systems like WordPress and email management systems like Constant Contact, Mailchimp, etc.
Experience and comfort with HTML and CSS are preferred but not required.
Ability to use simple video editing software to create content for social media.
Experience with paid search and social advertising is a plus.
Ability and willingness to use collaboration, productivity, and project management tools such as Airtable, Dropbox, and Google Drive.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.)
Willingness to adapt and learn in a fast-paced environment. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to sit and stand for long periods and walk. The employee must be able to reach with hands and arms; and use hands to finger, handle, and feel. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move carry, push, or pull at least 50lbs. Specific vision requirements for this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, ability to focus, and night vision. The employee must be able to take directional cues directly or indirectly.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is primarily performed in an indoor office setting with occasional social media coverage of outdoor events. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
The employee is occasionally exposed to wet/or humid conditions, extreme heat or extreme cold.
The noise level of the work environment is usually low to moderate.
