LHH is seeking a skilled Sr. Development Engineer to engage in the design, testing, and prototyping of cutting-edge advancements for industrial machine tools within the realm of additive manufacturing. The role entails the creation of CAD and drawing files, formulation of test plans and test benches, as well as a profound grasp of additive manufacturing processes.
Requirements:
- 2+ years Mechanical Design Experience
- 2+ years experience with one or more of the following programming languages. C#, Python, Labview) DMG will entertain less than 3+ years if they are stronger in other requirements
- Bachelors (5+ years minimum STEM experience
- Covid Vaccine: Must be vaccinated
- 2+ years in Microsoft Office; Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Basic understanding of Metallurgy. The branch of science and technology concerned with the properties of metals and their production and purification.
Nice to Haves:
- Preferred: CAD trained and FEA and other simulation and analysis tools.
- Preferred: 1+ years experience in product development, a proven track record of innovation as demonstrated by granted patents.
- Preferred: 1+ years experience with PTC CREO and Windchill highly preferred.
- Knowledge in part processing, metal cutting, CNC programming, reading drawings, and machine setup.
Responsibilities
• Conducting research, designing, developing, and testing equipment specifically tailored for additive manufacturing (AM).
• Creating and developing innovative methods for powder conveyance, optical calibration, laser control, and gas flow.
• Estimating time requirements for components to assess the impact of product innovations.
• Calculating optimal machine parameters for efficient part processing.
• Possessing a strong understanding of statistical process control and conducting machine reliability analysis.
• Inspecting finished parts to ensure high quality and accuracy.
• Generating comprehensive engineering reports and technical documentation.
• Maintaining regular communication with internal technical teams, external customers, and suppliers.
Work Environment:
Exposure to manufacturing/machining environments which may present possible hazards such as noise, electricity, chemicals, heavy equipment, and other automated and manual machinery. General office environment experienced at DMG MORI office.
Physical Demands:
Frequent: Travel, operating a vehicle, standing, walking, bending, squatting, stooping, sitting, and reaching. Pushing, pulling, and lifting objects. Repetitive foot, leg, hand, arm, shoulder, and torso movements.
Periodic: Operating power equipment, sitting at desk, utilizing computers and phones.
Occasional: Lifting or moving up to 50lbs.
