Job Summary
The Vehicle Design and Innovation Department (VDID) provides space vehicle design and analysis, rapid systems engineering processes, and vehicle systems engineering support throughout the program acquisition lifecycle using systems engineers, modeling capabilities, rapid prototyping tools, and dedicated engineering development facilities. As a member of VDID you will be developing the next generation of innovative spacecraft designs to solve the most challenging problems of our US Space Force, Intelligence Community, NASA, NOAA, and commercial/international customers.
Work Model:
Hybrid: This position will be a hybrid work model and offer partially remote with some onsite work required in either El Segundo, CA or Chantilly,, VA.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Providing vehicle systems engineering support in the execution of customer programs
  • Evaluating spacecraft design and architecture concepts and participate in design reviews
  • Developing tools and models that support spacecraft design and analysis activities
  • Working with government and program office personnel and members of ETG
  • Leading and participating in conceptual and preliminary design studies of space systems, to include multi-disciplinary engineering teams
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
  • Knowledge or experience of commercial simulation tools/programming languages, including one or more of: MATLAB, Python or SolidWorks
  • Knowledge of or experience using concurrent engineering tools, processes, and methodologies
  • 0 - 1 year of industry experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of spacecraft subsystems and system engineering
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university program in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months)
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
  • Proficiency in commercial simulation tools/programming languages, including one or more of: MATLAB, Python, Simulink, STK, C++, SolidWorks
  • Masters or PhD degree from an accredited college/university program in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months)
  • Current or active TS/SSBI
  • Strong, demonstrated personal initiative

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
