Rebuilding Together, a national housing and community revitalization nonprofit, headquartered in D.C. with 115 affiliates around the country, is seeking a Development Associate. This position is based at our national office in Washington, D.C., with the option of remote work, and reports directly to the Director of Individual Giving.


We are searching for a dynamic Development Associate to support our important work by helping with Rebuilding Together raise funds to make homes safe and livable for veterans, older adults, people with disabilities and families recovering from natural disaster.


Our ideal candidate will be excited about our mission as they (1) support national fundraising initiatives across multiple channels, including email and direct mail campaigns, (2) assist with our efforts to retain and grow our current portfolio of donors and supporters, and (3) play a critical role in tracking results, acknowledging donations and reporting on campaign gifts, pledges, and activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Help Rebuilding Together grow its portfolio of funders through stewardship, database management, and fundraising efforts.
  • Process donations and invoices, as needed, and reconcile donations with the Finance Department monthly.
  • Collaborate with team members across departments to identify and develop dynamic and relevant content.
  • Help maintain donor database, including tracking fundraising progress, pledges, and donor information, and providing regular reports to various stakeholders.
  • Provide support for the full range of fundraising activities required to identify, engage and steward donors in a timely and effective manner.
  • Serve as a point-of-contact for general and donation-related inquiries.
  • Handle administrative details associated with fundraising meetings and projects (i.e. prepare and distribute notices, agendas, timelines, minutes, etc.)
  • Prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.
  • Acquire and maintain sound knowledge and understanding of Rebuilding Together’s field of work, our mission, values and programs to develop persuasive donor materials and campaigns.


Requirements


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and general comfort learning and using new programs and systems.
  • Previous outreach, fundraising, and/or customer service experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including demonstrable skill in writing, presenting, and effectively summarizing and communicating complex issues to different audiences.
  • Excellent time and project-management skills and demonstrated ability to set and maintain priorities, balance demands of multiple tasks, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to conform to different styles, tone, and levels of formality in writing.
  • A Bachelor’s degree and 0-2 years of experience, or any combination of education and experience to meet the minimum requirements of the position.

Vaccination Requirement:Our priority during the process of resuming work during an ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is to keep staff, AmeriCorps members, volunteers, and homeowners safe. National office staff who will be working in the office (full time or hybrid) will be required to be vaccinated, unless an exemption is requested due to health or religious reasons. In addition, National staff who visit or work with affiliates in person must be vaccinated. Our National office will continue to follow local and government recommendations regarding COVID.
