GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Performs intermediate human support work providing basic needs and insuring safety and security of delinquent
youth housed in Saginaw County’s detention facility and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is
performed under the limited supervision of the Shift Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible for safety, security, environment, and needs of residents during shift.

• Supervises residents in all activities such as housekeeping, hygiene, self-care, recreation, during meals, and

socialization.

• Provides general counseling and assists residents in solving personal problems by one on one and group

discussions.

• Collaborates with the resident's family, probation officers, community mental health workers, and DHS staff

to establish behavioral contracts that will be implemented during the resident’s detention stay and following
release.

• Performs periodical assessments on residents and documents findings. Writes weekly assessment reports

and incident reports as needed, and co-chairs weekly unit meetings.

MINIMUM OR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associates/Technical degree with coursework in human services, or related field.
Experience: One (1) to three (3) years’ experience in child caring, criminal justice agency, equivalent
combination of education and experience

✓ Valid State of Michigan driver’s license.
✓ Ability to complete Crisis Prevention Intervention Training
