The A.C. Coy Company has an immediate opening for a Design / Project Engineer. Ideal candidates must have a passion for driving and owning engineering design projects with 3+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment. College graduates with experience in Fundamentals solid mechanics, and Fundamentals of Materials Science or Metallurgy will also be considered.


Responsibilities


  • Estimate design and costing for incoming RFQ opportunities
  • Manage continuous improvement projects
  • Interpret and accommodate customer engineering definition and quality requirements
  • Create and manage router’s and BOM’s for master data/shop floor instructions
  • Engage customers and vendors on NPI and legacy projects
  • Perform FEA simulation and evaluation of heating and forging operations to optimize FPY
  • Manage onboarding of New Product Introduction (NPI) projects
  • Design manufacturing processes and tooling for new and legacy products


Qualifications


Education


  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar with 3+ years experience in a manufacturing environment, forging experience preferred. College graduates with relevant experience will also be considered


Experience


  • Must understand all pre-processing concepts such as boundary conditions and meshing
  • Metal flow simulation software a plus (DEFORM 2D/3D)
  • Proven ability to manage projects and multiple concurrent priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of drawing and dimensioning standards (ASME Y14.5-1994 and later)
  • Introductory experience with 3D CAD package, prefer CATIA V5 or Creo (Pro-Engineer)
  • Must possess solid analytical skills in defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions
  • Must understand all processing concepts and have
  • Comfortable with heat transfer, including finite differences, and deriving boundary conditions
  • Experience with stress/strain, deformations, and thermal distributions
  • 1000+ hours Machine time preferred
  • Must understand post processing and be able to interpret the outcomes of a FE model.
  • Experience with detailing and understanding tooling layouts and assemblies
  • Familiarity with finite element modeling principles
