Design Engineer Jobs

Element6's client is looking for a Design Engineer to join their team in Bellwood, IL.

Position Summary:

Provide technical engineering support in the design of hydraulic and pneumatic valves, mechanisms, and adaptations to existing products in accordance with customer requirements, industry, and company standards. Develop solenoid operated on/off and proportionally operated cartridge valves. Develop and support existing hydromechanical cartridge valves.

Responsibilities:

• Design new products: prepare layouts, create detail and assembly drawings for engineering projects
• Define and direct prototype model builds
• Primary responsibilities in relation to the design and development of complex hydraulic
• Participate in design reviews and the development stage gate process as needed
• Apply industry standard design and qualification analysis including: stress / strain analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), pressure drop and force calculations to ensure design integrity
• Develop and participate in performance test procedures as necessary
• Support and prepare standard mechanical drawing methodology including GD&T
• Cartridge valve products
• Support material component supply through vendor capability and design review participation
• Create and implement design modifications to support continuous improvement of existing products
• Establish and manage design project scope, objectives, timeline, and resources
• Provide product support as needed to internal and external customers
• Support product and manufacturing engineers through product program launches

Position Qualifications – Skills and Abilities:

• Strong oral, written and listening communication skills
• Prior experience with hydraulic control systems and valves
• Willingness to travel internationally 10%
• 2 years plus of experience in Fluid Power
• Fluid power.
• 2D CAD, 3D CAD (AutoCAD, Inventor a plus).
• Knowledge of engineering drawing practices and GD&T
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mechanical, electrical, preferred emphasis in
• Strong organizational skills with ability to work independently

Other Considerations:

• Fluid power certifications a plus (CFPS, CFPHS)
• Six sigma training a plus
• Professional attitude with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional team members to meet objectives
